Oh Mama, I’m in fear for my life from the long arm of the law. Hangman is coming down from the gallows, and I don’t have very long   STYX   The Outlaw

Here we are on the cusp. Opening arguments in the Trump election interference trial in Manhattan will present opening arguments. Despite all of Trump’s futile efforts to use every bullsh*t legal tactic in his legal beagles quiver, it has all come to naught.

Trump is now a bona fide criminal defendant standing trial. This isn’t just some civil bullsh*t that Traitor Tot can talk or buy his way out of. Starting on Monday he will be sitting in the defendant’s chair as a purported criminal. And worst of all, whatever happens from here on out is totally out of his control.

And that is the kiss of death for a megalomaniac like Trump. And it’s not like Manhattan District Court Judge Juan Merchan is a sympathetic soul. When jury selection started on Monday, the odds were for a minimum of two weeks, and more likely three weeks for a jury to be empaneled. And yet today, in only four days, we have a full panel of 12 jurors and 6 alternate jurors ready to hear opening arguments on Monday.

I am in awe of the discipline of Judge Merchan. When jury selection started, the prosecution raised a motion of three different Trump violations of his gag order, and wanted a hearing. But Judge Merchan had his eye on the immediate prize, get a full panel seated to hear the trial. And so he delayed a hearing on Trump’s perfidy until 9 AM next Tuesday morning, Pundits slammed Merchan for pandering to Trump. but tonight Merchan has a jury in place, and a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, with Trump’s violation count now up to 10. The hearing will take place before the jury is seated, and now Merchan has Traitor Tot by the old short-and-curlies.

I’ll be honest, I’m also impressed with Trump’s lead lawyer. He tried to slow the selection process, but when Merchan ruled that almost nobody on the planet had no impressions of Trump, and that the question was whether the juror could put opinions aside, and decide on the evidence, Trump’s lawyer locked into a strategic strategy. It’s interesting to note that when the 12 man jury selection ended, the prosecution still had two peremptory challenges to burn, while the defense was out. This cost them dearly in the last couple of jurors.

Let’s make this clear. On Tuesday Judge Merchan is going to find Trump in violation of the gag order, and is going to fine him. He is also going to advise defense that continued violations will place Trump at risk of detention. This is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Mark my words. By the end of next week, Trump will act out, and Judge Merchan will put him in detention in a holding cell, with a speaker so he can hear the proceedings without participating. His Messiah Complex requires that he be seen as a political martyr for his base.

The simple problem is that Trump simply refuses to see this as an existential threat to his personal freedom. Instead, he continues to consider the trial through a purely political lens, looking for reelection, mindless that now there is a jury empaneled  that will be affected by his bullsh*t.

Trump is a barely functional imbecile. He is incapable of separating his legal problems from his political problems, simply because he is mentally incapable of believing that he can’t win the presidency and make this all go away. He will continue to play to his base while a jury of his peers finds him guilty, by his own actions. I can’t see another outcome.

I thank you for the privilege of your time.

  1. I see another possible outcome: A maga is on the jury panel and will cause a hung jury. I know they checked into everyone’s backgrounds and social media usage going back years, but it is still possible that a magat is on the jury. I pray it isn’t true. He MUST be found guilty. The evidence is all there!

    • As I seem to recall, there was at least one MAGAt on the GEORGIA jury that decided to bring that RICO indictment against Trump so it would seem that some MAGAts are able to do the right thing and who believe in law and order and justice more than in their wannabe god.

      • There was also one on the federal jury in Alexandria, VA that convicted Paul Manafort. She gave an interview after about why she voted to convict and readily admitted social media suggesting she was a Trumper was accurate. That she had a Trump bumper sticker on her truck and that she left her MAGA hat in it each day before entering the courthouse. She said she didn’t want to convict Manafort but the evidence proved he was guilty so she had no choice but to convict. So yes, people can set aside strongly held beliefs and do what has to be done. I’m not foolish enough to believe there aren’t plenty out there who would acquit Trump if he’d walked into their mom & dad’s house and stole their life savings from the mattress right in front of him/her and the whole family. But as some of the pundits say there’s something about being there in the system and part of the process that for a brief moment of time causes them to put duty to the justice system first.

    • Not all magats post online to announce to the world they are magats. A quiet one could get through. Let’s hope it is one like the one in the GA RICO indictment.

Here is a question for Ursula: what happens if it is discovered a juror lied to get onto a jury? Is there a mistrial? If so, does the defendant get off scott free? Does only the lying juror get punished?

      • Isn’t that one of the reasons there are alternative jurors? — I mean if somebody lied to get on a jury they are not a qualified juror.

  2. Trump’s clock has struck midnight. He’s already pretty “round” and painted orange so the rest of the process of turning into a pumpkin should be easy for him. Maybe since this is going down in Manhattan they can take him over to that place in Jersey (I’m pretty sure that’s where it was held every year) and one of the old “Pumpkin Chunkin” competitors can tune up their pumpkin flinging device (I think one of the Trebuchets would be perfect) and toss him to his final “splat.”

    • regardless it, like most of their stuff, was pure crap. Coming from the windy city I was subjected to their garbage on a regular basis. puke. There are few bands in the rock genre I hate as much as styx. ted nugent comes to mind.

  3. Mount trumpatoa will probably blow up catastrophically next Monday when Judge Engoron rejects the KSI bond and James gets the green light to start seizing his assets up to the $454 million judgment. It could be forever, because with this latest scam he may have squandered his ability to appeal. On Tuesday at his gag order hearing with Judge Merchan he’ll face the fallout. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him Wednesday in a cell probing soggy spam sandwiches and sipping stale jailhouse coffee. And the best part is there will be no phones to keep his tiny thumbs occupied.
