You can say what you like about Liz Cheney, but she’s no moron, and she sure as hell isn’t political moron. But Trump never knows when to shut up. His best option would have been to leave her alone and in congress. But no, he had to get petty revenge, and now Cheney is about to become his worst nightmare.
Here’s why Cheney is so politically savvy. Here’s why. She fund raised like hell for her primary campaign. But the handwriting has been on the wall for months now. As a result, she spent next to nothing on her primary.
And when she lost, the first thing she did was to start a new Super PAC, and transfer her entire campaign war chest over there. And she’s just getting started.
Her goal is not just to run anti Trump, anti Trombie ads in the campaign. Oh no, Cheney is going to be much more surgical than that. Her goal is to run ads specifically targeting election denying, anti abortion Trombies wherever they are. The best way to keep Trump out of the White House is to shrink his legislative caucus. That’s what she wants to do.
And she has a huge leg up on The Lincoln Project for two reasons. First is her platform and prestige. Liz Cheney is a far right traditional conservative. But for several years now, she has been the 3rd most powerful woman in the GOP. She is widely respected by women GOP voters, and communicates with them naturally.
With her ads and messaging, she can talk to GOP women, especially white suburban women in a way that The Lincoln Project never could. Pick a specific Trombie target, get your message to the women, and let them convert their husbands. I’m betting that most GOP women already believe Cheney got screwed.
The second reason is money. Cheney already has a hefty cushion, but B-b-b-baby you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. The GOP is already pissing and whining about what happened to all of their filthy lucre. Hell, some of them want to do an independent audit on NRSC Chair Rick Scott to see how he’s spending their kaboodle.
Shit, I’m no GOP strategist, but you guys give me $2 million, and I’ll clue you kitties in. It’s in 2 places. In the pockets of corporations and deep pocket GOP donors, and Traitor Tot is busy rolling around in the grassroots donations down in Mar-A-Lago. Corporations and deep pocket GOP donors won’t be tied to insane Trump candidates, and Trump has a hammerlock on the grassroots money.
Which is where Cheney has an edge. Not with the grassroots money, that’s a lost cause. But the large corporations and big money donors hate Trump as much as she does. They want a sane GOP back that concentrates on things like giving them tax breaks and reduced workers rights, and not in bussing illegal immigrants to Washington and New York, and sending women into allies for an abortion.
Enter Liz Cheney. She’s a traditional GOP conservative, with a national profile, and a history of large donor and corporate fundraising. Think some of those corporations and GOP sugar daddies might be willing to open their checkbooks and float Cheney some moolah so she can do the dirty work without them getting their manicured fingernails dirty, and get their party back? I do.
Liz Cheney is going to be a force in this election. How much of a force? Nobody knows. But she isn’t just going to be Trump’s worst nightmare, she’s going to be a 1 woman Apocalypse Horseman swinging her scythe through the Trump loyal GOP field. Don’t touch that dial.

Bare, boy do we ever disagree on the Lincoln Project. I don’t think they’re “overrated” at all. I personally believe they’ve been very effective. But still, I agree with Murphs thesis that in regards to hurting Trump, Liz can be MUCH more effective than the LP ever could.
In terms of getting under Donald Trump’s skin alone are they effective. But they remain courtiers without a court and thus no influence. They’ve been waiting to fall in line behind someone like Liz Cheney. In terms of delivering any real punishment to their former party on their own, though, they’re a joke.

That Leo guy was just what I was thinking about. The J6 Committee can do all they want until January 2023 but if the ‘pubes take over it’s game over and not just for the committee. This guy has got a fuck-ton of money at his disposal now so I’m thinking our democracy is fucked.
When it’s all gone, ALL our civil rights, I wonder if the morons on the right will be smart enough to remember what we had and if they’ll miss it. They sure as shit won’t be getting it back any time soon.
The left needs to be more careful about turning this woman into some kind of hero. She is not. All J6 committee cheering aside, she is still a far-right extremist and a danger to democracy. The real reason Liz Cheney is going after Trump so single-mindedly is because she is exactly like him. She feels he wrongly attacked her, so there is nothing she won’t do and nothing she won’t give up in order to make him pay. She voted with Trump more than 90% of the time. She backed all of Trump’s SCOTUS picks and directly helped bring about the hellish Supreme Court situation we now have. The list goes on and on. Stop talking about her like she is some kind of savior of democracy. Due to circumstances, her goals just happen to align with ours for the moment. Nothing more.
I have NEVER forgotten what she is. In fact, I keep having to remind folks frequently that she’s going to be the next big threat from the right.
