Talk with your mouth full. Bite the hand that feeds you. Bite off more than you can chew. We’ll show you how, you can dare to be stupid Weird Al Yankovic Dare to be stupid
Earlier this evening Trumpologist Tim O’Brien, who wrote Trump Nation nailed Trump to the wall. He opined that as Trump gets older, and dotage encroaches, he indulges in the luxury of The good old days in times of stress.
And for Trump, The good old days were the 1980’s. Trump was on top of the world, his bankruptcies hadn’t started catching up with him yet. Trump’s campaign rally playlist is heavily salted with ’80’s hits. Trump fixates of his long gone casinos and The Trump Shuttle, and his favorite fictional character fixation is Dr. Hannibal Lecter from the bestseller Silence of the Lambs. I’m 11 years younger than Traitor Tot, but in my down time when Teri is at work, I have my moments when I cruise back to concerts I’ve seen, games I played with the kids, Chicago championship teams I’ve been blessed to see. It’s a natural progression.
But if I were advising Traitor Tot in his campaign right now, other than advising him to give it up and wait for the Sheriff’s to arrive, I’d tell him he might like to pick a better decade to fixate on. Something more like the decade from 2012-2022.
Because right now Trump is getting steamrolled by an out of control asphalt spreader called the Harris campaign. And in his desperation, he’s pulling out a remix called The Big Lie v 2.0. The problem is that in his dotage, Trump hasn’t bothered to look at the history and ultimate outcome of The Big Lie v 1.0.
Which was this. Starting in 2013, with the 2012 GOP Autopsy Report, basically dubbed the GOP as The party of actuarial tables. Their extremist views were choking off younger voters signing up, and every year more and more of their base shuffled off this mortal coil. So of course, in 2016, the GOP nominated a 70 year old racist, sexist sociopath, who lost the popular vote by some 3 million votes.
Trump initially introduced The Big Lie in 2016, both in the primaries as well as the general election, but didn’t need to pull the trigger on it thanks to Vlad the Imp. But it was already out there in the mainstream all the way back then.
Fast forward to 2020. This time was for real. Trump was getting clobbered by Biden, so out came The Big Lie again. But His Lowness had used the last four years to fine tune his toy. This time he had two prongs to his carving fork. The Big Steal would take place two ways. First, millions of fraudulent votes from undocumented immigrants, which was logistically impossible, and second, all early in person votes, absentee votes, and mail-in ballots were Democratic schemes to juggle the ballots and steal the election.
Cast your mind back to the summer of 2020. Covid-19 was just kicking into high gear. As The Mooch, Anthony Scaramucci pointed out, from 2016-2024 more than 20 million Baby Boomers have checked out. And yet El Pendejo ex Presidente madly insisted that all true Republicans would only show up on election day to cast their ballots. Ask millions of senior citizens to go out in November inclement weather wearing face masks, stand outside in the elements, then go into a polling place with spotty distancing measures to cast their ballot.
Here’s what happened. In 2020 we had the most ballots ever cast in a presidential election. That being said, there were also a record number of early in person, mail-in and absentee ballots. And Trump lost the popular vote by some 7 million ballots. Which begs the simple question, How many GOP seniors bought into Traitor Tot’s bullsh*t about early and mail in voting, then declined to risk their lives by going to the polling places on election day? Think about it for a minute. In 2020 we voted early in person, and our polling place was in a double tent in the parking lot of the Galleria mall to allow for ventilation. How many polling places offered no such niceties?
And now Il Douche is at it again. He’s already seeding the clouds with mumblings of election fraud. He wants an immediate end to early in person voting, mail-in and absentee voting, and election day only voting with strict voter ID checks. And he’s insisting that all true MAGAt’s will only show up on election day to cast their ballots. While Trump showed up today at a Florida polling place to cast an early ballot for the GOP primaries.
I already told you that since 2016 more than 20 million Baby Boomers have become fond memories. But at the same time, more than 40 million Gen-Xers have come of voting age. Gee. Wadda ya think the chances are that they’ll vote early, absentee, or by mail?
True, we no longer have Covid hanging over us like a toxic cloud. But those that used absentee and mail-in balloting love how easy it is, and will use it again. On the other hand, those seniors who bought into Trump’s bullsh*t in 2020 about mail in voting, but stayed home in November have even less reason to come out and vote this November.
Trump is sowing the seeds of his own self destruction. Trump doesn’t mind availing himself to the convenience of early voting, but nobody else should! And since his party is saddled with the same aging crowd that sat out 2020 rather than risk a painful death, and watched him get spanked by 7 million votes, are going to risk Covid or RSV in November for what could be an even worse outcome?
I thank you for for the privilege of your time.
20 million in 8 years…I’m turning 71 this month murf…sobering to think about. When the Who sang “hope I die before I get old” in the mid 60s…I was singing right along. Now it’s “tramps like us…baby we were born to run”…ha.
In 2020 I only heard the Biden campaign play any of a certain song once, and only a couple of bars. I thought it would have made a wonderful theme song. I think the same is true for the Harris/Walz campaign. You, Murf and I are all of an age to have watched Soul Train and even if you didn’t catch this particular show you know the song Ooh Child from The Five Stairsteps. It fits perfectly with this campaign, and while Harris current ‘walk-on’ music plays I guess with the under 30 crowd I think this has a much broader appeal. For damned sure it would be awesome to, after Harris completes her acceptance speech and family & others join her on the stage to have THIS appear on the big screen behind her and before the ballon drop. I’d like to know what others think:
Yes Sir! That song is one of my all time favorites of the era and genre. I love the message and the singing. And btw – I’m older than all of you – for what it’s worth, and I’m still hangin’ in there. A progressive ’till I shuffle off this mortal coil.
Doesn’t hurt that it was used vin Guardians of the Galaxy…
Trump voted today in Florida? last I heard he’s a convicted felon until or unless a new York appellate court says otherwise.
Trump believes the States with Trumpist in electoral positions will elect him unlawfully apart from the illness he is most certainly suffering from and with.
“someday we’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun”…starting November and in full bloom on Kamala’s swearing in as president of the USA! Thanks Denis…I miss Soul Train.
