Wow, it’s been quite an overnight in Russia, where The Wagner Group’s head honcho (and Putin’s ex-Chef) Yevgeny Prigozhin has pulled troops and equipment from defensive positions inside Ukraine and sent both hurtling eastward towards Moscow — which he vows to take in three days.
Major highways leading into the capital have been blocked with heavy trucks by the Putin regime and mortar emplacements are being constructed in Moscow’s streets.
There are reports that Putin has fled the city for St. Petersburg.
Prigozhin insists his actions are directed against Russia’s Ministry of Defense, but has also stated that Putin’s war in Ukraine was based on lies (NATO planning to invade, Ukraine’s leadership are Nazis etc. etc.) which is just enough to win my backing for Prigozhin in this battle of bad guys, but my fellow Politizoom columnist, Denis Elliot, is quite correct in cautioning that we do not and cannot predict what will be the consequences of this turmoil in Russia.
But, thanks to Twitter and right wing nut-job Joey Mannarino we do know who is ultimately responsible for the coup. Joe Biden.
