I don’t know why anybody would feel the need for a Miss Hitler contest when we’ve got Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene in elective office, but that’s not enough for some people, apparently.

There was a Miss Hitler contest in the UK last year. Its participants did not fare too well:

A former “Miss Hitler” contestant and three other neo-Nazis were jailed in Britain on Tuesday, after being convicted of membership of the banned far-right group National Action (NA) in March.

The Birmingham Crown Court sentenced Alice Cutter, 24, to three years in prison and her ex-boyfriend, Mark Jones, 25, to five-and-a-half years.

Two other men — Gary Jack, 24, and Connor Scothern, 19, — were handed four years and six months, and 18 months respectively, for the same crime. A fifth defendant was sentenced to three years in prison last year.

Cutter, a waitress, had entered the Miss Hitler beauty contest under the nickname “Miss Buchenwald,” referencing the World War II Nazi concentration camp.

Jurors were shown messages in which Cutter had joked about gassing synagogues, using a Jewish person’s head as a football, and saying “Rot in hell, bitch” after hearing about the 2016 killing of MP Jo Cox in the run-up to the Brexit referendum.

The group was banned the same year, following the comments, with the government describing it as a “racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic organizaton that stirs up hatred and glorifies violence.”

Then we’ve got this over on Gab.

VK is a Russian-based social media company. That would explain the lousy English. So this could be out of a bot or troll farm. “Inscriptions” is applications, I assume?

Reading further, the “Vrill power” is out of some Nazi cult literature, apparently.

Some readers have believed the account of a superior subterranean master race and the energy-form called “Vril”, at least in part; some theosophists, notably Helena Blavatsky, William Scott-Elliot, and Rudolf Steiner, accepted the book as based on occult truth, in part.[4] One 1960 book, The Morning of the Magicians, suggested that a secret Vril Society existed in Weimar Berlin.

Hitler was into the occult. He had magnets under the bed and God knows what all. So I guess you could read the contest ad as promising you not only the title and a bouquet of roses but magical powers as well. Sounds like right-wingnuttia to me.

  1. I know we’ve had trolls making more appearances lately but if I didn’t know better I’d say someone in internet land accidently switched a piece from The Onion with one from PZ! However, it’s got your name as author so this shit is real. Real scuzzy and appalling to be sure. But the sad part is that I can’t say I’m all that surprised at this. I worry about whatever site(s) you waded through to find this leaving your supply of Brain Bleach depleted!

  2. I have listened to wing nuts cry about not having a Miss White USA for years. Well they now have a contest they can get behind.
