Nothing like adding insult to injury. It’s bad enough Donald Trump made himself Chair of the Kennedy Center Board and fired everybody else. Now the GOP has decided that it would be a great idea to name the Opera House at the Kennedy Center after Melania Trump. This may be the only opera house in the world named after a porn model. And this is from the party of family values, may I remind you? New York Times:
Republican lawmakers moved on Tuesday to rename the Opera House at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington after the first lady, Melania Trump.
The proposal was introduced by Republican members of the House Appropriations Committee as part of a spending bill for the Department of the Interior, environment and related agencies. The legislation would require approval from the full House. […]
The amendment, which contained additional measures related to the environment, passed 33-25 in a largely party line vote. Representative Mike Simpson, a Republican from Idaho and chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, introduced the amendment.
Mr. Simpson said in a statement after the vote that naming the theater after Mrs. Trump “is an excellent way to recognize her appreciation for the arts.”
Representative Chellie Pingree of Maine, the ranking Democrat on the House subcommittee, opposed the amendment.
“It’s just another assault in this whole lineup of the president taking control of the Kennedy Center,” Ms. Pingree said in a phone interview. “It seems outrageous to me. There’s no public consensus around this. It also leads me to wonder, does the president plan to rename the whole Kennedy Center after himself?”
If I had to venture a guess, I’d say “yes.” And other portions of the Kennedy Center could be named after Ivanka, Junior, who knows? At least the Republicans don’t want to name the Opera House after Lara Trump. Although, maybe she would be asked to perform there once they rename it after Melania.
What a circus and a joke our culture has become. And the Republicans revel in this. They know that this will raise the blood pressure of any normal American with any appreciation of the arts. That’s why they’re doing it, as a troll.
Be careful what you do, fellas. The day will always come when you’re the out party and you may come to regret some of this tomfoolery. Lady Karma is patient, but when she strikes, she is lethel.

If they’re going to rename it, might I suggest they re-purpose the space as an art gallery for velvet paintings of semi-nude ‘ladies’.
Then, at least, it would pay suitable homage to her level of artness, or more accurately, artlessness.
