If there is one thing that can be said about Donald Trump’s supporters, it’s that they are predictable. They behave like hornets if they think their nest is being attacked and some of them can be ridiculously, dangerously ferocious. These are the ones that sometimes sting if provoked.
Unfortunately, Jena Griswold, Colorado’s Secretary of State is finding out just how nasty some Trump supporters can be. She’s been hit with a fusillade of death threats since her state successfully kicked him off the 2024 presidential ballot. The threats are coming in so fast and furious that she says she’s lost count, she said in a new report Wednesday from The Huffington Post.
“I’ve received hundreds if not thousands of threats at this point,” Griswold said. “I’m extremely concerned.”
The threats began flooding in right after the Colorado Supreme Court looked to the 14th Amendment clause that prohibits insurrectionists from becoming president and ruled to block the former president from running on the state’s 2024 ballot. Trump being who he is, he has, of course, vowed to take this to the Supreme Court.
Griswold told the Huffington Post she’s been receiving frightening messages since she filed the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington lawsuit that challenged Trump’s eligibility in September.
Over the three weeks that followed, Griswold received 64 death threats and more than 900 abuse threats. This is a staggering number especially since she has nothing to do with the actual case.
“I filed it because i’m the secretary of state,” griswold said. “i did not bring this case.”
So obviously, some of these people are not only dangerous but they also can’t be bothered to do their research. They lash out like hornets at whoever happens to be around. Griswold was merely doing her job.
In case you think this has discouraged be assured it hasn’t. She’s glad about the state’s Supreme Court ruling, saying she’s been worried about Trump since the failed January 6, 2021 insurrection.
“it just underlines that donald trump is a major threat to american democracy, elections, and stability,” she said. “when he doesn’t win elections, he tries to steal them. he is a dangerous leader for this country.”
While the threats keep coming, Griswold remains hopeful and believes Colorado will have a “good” and “normal” election and has declared she will not be “intimidated” by extremists.
“we cannot allow these people trying to steal elections and using rhetoric to incite violence,” she said.
She said she planned to beef up her “security issues,” but wouldn’t allow Trump “or anybody else on the MAGA right” to intimidate her.
While real hornets have value in nature, even if they do sting on occasion the only value Trump supporters have is that they make it easier for those who are rational to mock them. And that’s really about it. They are destructive in their fury and their foolish idolatry of a man who couldn’t care less about them.
Oh Lord, pray for them, for they know not what they do. Eventually the majority of them will go on bended knee. Might take some time though, before their trumped-up disbelief and anger subsides into rational territory.
Oh… no way Post It. These MAGAS know exactly what they are doing, all at the demand of their ORANGE OVERLORD, DON THE CON. They’ve grown up in this country & know how American elections are supposed to be run. But now would-be DICTATOR DON is lying to them about elections being stolen, & they are too stupid & brain-washed to realize DON THE CON is the one doing the stealing & getting them to do the dirty work for him. I also don’t see them returning to rational territory anytime soon.
She needs to record every message, save every email/zitter, and get it all to the FBI and/or whatever agency CO has to deal with this sort of thing. Free speech does not allow people to threaten people with harm, death, or just about anything else one threatens others with. Let’s put some more of these little stoopie fucks away.
Exactly… very well said. These MAGA thugs need to catch a charge or 2 & spend some time behind bars thinking about what they did wrong. DON THE CON also will definitely not be changing any of his thinking or actions until he spends some time behind bars. That has to be the ultimate end.
Judging by the sign that claims Jesus endorses Fat Donnie, they don’t read their own Bible. Their Messiah specifically told his followers that they should render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s which kinda shows he is apolitical.except for the bit about rich men and the eye of a needle. But if they really want to get into a fight over scripture, they should perhaps read his last words before the ascension, the Sermon on the Mount. I think they probably have it in the Children’s Bible, because their reading comprehension is at a 4th grade level.like Trump’s.
Expecting them.to do serious research is unfair. They aren’t capable of it. They don’t teach writing term papers until freshman year in college, which means they cannot tell a bad source from.A reputable one. This was,true in 1984, when I was teaching entry level.college English. It has only gotten worse.
