It is wearing on him. Unlike many scandals of the past, Trump simply cannot get past this Epstein matter, and it is driving him, his White House team, and the GOP-controlled House mental, according to a new report in Politico. It really shouldn’t surprise anyone. Unlike so many other scandals, this one hits the heart of the fuel that drives MAGA – conspiracy theory, an effort to get back at “the man,” draining the swamp, and pounding on the hated Clintons. It all manifests itself in the perfect storm for Donald Trump. No amount of distraction is really working this time, and it has his team exasperated (Probably in having to deal with him and his distractions). It has also left the House running out of town lest the rebellion really take hold.
The report notes that this was supposed to be the summer in which Trump could take a victory lap over the “big beautiful bill,” the money received from NATO nations, and new tariff deals (however bad) in place. Instead, Trump faces the biggest scandal of either administration. This one eclipses Russia Russia Russia because it enrages MAGA, instead of fueling the base’s psyche. It has Trump steaming
“POTUS is clearly furious,” said a person close to the White House, who, like others in this story, was granted anonymity to discuss the mood inside the West Wing. “It’s the first time I’ve seen them sort of paralyzed. He feels there are way bigger stories that deserve attention,” the senior White House official said.
A senior White House official told POLITICO the president is frustrated with his staff’s inability to tamp down conspiracy theories they once spread and by the wall of media coverage that started when Attorney General Pam Bondi released information from the Epstein case that was already in the public domain
The frustration stems, in part, from an understanding that this is “a vulnerability,” said a White House ally. Trump has famously had his finger on the pulse of the Republican base for more than a decade but has, for now, lost the ability to dominate the narrative. That threatens to undermine the momentum and sense of invincibility the GOP felt at the beginning of the month when they were getting ready to boast about a slew of new tax cuts and border funding as their opening pitch to voters ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Zoomers, we are always in need of donations. We work hard to get you analysis that you will not find in the mainstream media, but all media have been hit hard since the big companies have gobbled up and monopolized commentary. Anything you can spare will be immensely appreciated. And thank you to all who have donated generously already. Ursula
