This is ironic, but what about Trump world isn’t? CNN is reporting that the Washington Post, The New York Times, and NBC News on Saturday issued significant corrections to an earlier story about Rudy Giuliani, which said that he had been directly warned by the FBI that he was the target of a Russian disinformation campaign.

The Times, which said it has confirmed The Post’s reporting, also corrected its story.
“An earlier version of this article misstated whether Rudolph W. Giuliani received a formal warning from the F.B.I. about Russian disinformation,” The Times said in its correction posted at the bottom of the online story. “Mr. Giuliani did not receive such a so-called defensive briefing.”
All the original reports were attributed to anonymous sources.
NBC News said in its correction that its story “was based on a source familiar with the matter, but a second source now says the briefing was only prepared for Giuliani and not delivered to him, in part over concerns it might complicate the criminal investigation of Giuliani.”

So of course Rudy went nuts.

Now what is comical here, is that Giuliani is using this factual retraction as a cudgel, trying to amplify it to make it seem like a huge lie was told about him and he was defamed. What the truth is — and it is far more damning — is that the FBI didn’t want to mess up its criminal investigation of Giuliani, so that’s why they didn’t warn him.

Not knowing who the sources are, it’s plausible, if not probable, that the FBI thought about warning him and then decided not to. It was probably discussed. So that’s where the source went wrong. But the reason the FBI didn’t warn him is what would worry me, if I was in Giuliani’s shoes.

  1. Sadly, the nuance you point out in your article will be lost not only on residents of MAGA World but on all but the most diligent of observers. In the best of times in the modern age people have little enough time that they carefully peruse news and fully think through what they’ve read or heard. Too often, the headlines are “the story” and even if many people read through it for the type of nuance you speak of it takes some time and consideration to get the point.

    • Could be Denis, I see your point, but I’m reminded that Ursula is NOT an average person herself and any conclusion of hers is usually found to be a fact in the long run, it will just be a heads up to listen to the giant whine coming from the Giuliani’s camp when the FBI’s window shade’s coiled springs pop the bad news about his very reasons we see him in so many photos like the one above … the, “possible charges”, being mentioned before, include not registering as a Russian Agent … the ghoul has left so many clues and digital trails around, the reason the FBI GOT the warrant to go into Giuliani’s lair probably included the facts they already know, since they usually KNOW a LOT about you before they want to visit you in person … SO unfortunately your take on this may be absolutely correct …

But as the butter melts into the popcorn here I’m looking forward to his flapping jaws to stay out of prison and let Trump bear the responsibility for disaster he has fostered … and like M.Cohen, their info as agents for Trump’s dressing down could be hilarious … to see and hear Trump’s sputtering nonsense as the hammer falls …

  2. I love this photo of Giuliani! I borrowed it and cut Parnas out so the viewer is just focused on Giuliani’s hair! ?

  3. The idiot at law seems to miss the point that the error was that he was told that the FBI had briefed him. Ge just drew attention to the fact that they were actually (and still are) investigating him for a whole slew of assorted offences.

Claiming ‘persecution’ because he didn’t actually get briefed isn’t a red herring – it’s a giant red shark about to bite him

  4. Rudy is basically arguing that he isn’t dead, he’s undead, a vampire, perfectly harmless and very fit, thank you very much! While everybody and their grandmas are crafting makeshift stakes out of picket fences, chair legs and canes.
“So hold the priest, the service and retract that eulogy at once! You hear! Blah, bah-blar!”
