Marge is quoting a headline from the Washington Times, which references a number of cases but which is basically low on specifics. If you want to take the time to parse through it, be my guest. I think that the basic point is that unless you are completely perfect, then you are utterly incompetent. Coming from this iteration of the GOP and the right-wing media, that is truly a farcical concept.
Maybe Marge is on Jack’s mailing list, ya spose? And that’s what has got her worked up?

Yes, I know, the Neanderthals were a gentle and pacific people, it’s an insult to compare them to Marge. I concur.
Wherever she ends up, I just hope they’ve got space lasers and gazpacho. And maybe a nice crafts shop where they assemble pipe bombs. That’d be cool, right?
But here’s a serious note as to why this is important: Holding Trump accountable for January 6 is a big deal. That is in no way to diminish the significance of the classified documents matter, or his issues in New York, both with the Manhattan D.A. or the attorney general, or certainly not the new trial with E. Jean Carroll, now set for January. These are all cases of considerable import, but Jack Smith indicting Trump for attempting to overturn the 2020 election would be the federal government defending itself, and defending democracy itself, from a domestic threat, which is what Donald Trump posed on that day. He was attempting to stay in power by force.

All of the prosecutions against Donald Trump are important in their own ways. Trump should be held accountable for all of his alleged crimes, but a federal prosecution for crimes related to trying to overturn a presidential election that he lost would draw a red line around presidential power, and tell future incumbent presidents that win or lose, they must accept the results of a United States presidential election as legitimate.
Future presidents would come into office fully aware that if they ever tried to go down the Trump path to retain power, they can and will be criminally prosecuted.
A prosecution for his attempted coup is what many Americans have been waiting for. Faith in American democracy can’t be fully restored until those who tried to overturn a legitimate presidential election are held accountable for their actions.
Trump has often leaked details about the criminal prosecutions against him because he still views his legal troubles as political problems that can be managed and spun.
The chilling effect on extremist right-wing behavior has already been seen in the lack of violence after Trump’s previous indictments. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Kari Lake, Donald Trump, and others tried to assemble a 1/6 style mob after Trump’s previous indictments, but the violence and crowds never materialized in large part because Trump supporters were afraid of being arrested.
The same principle needs to apply to saving democracy.
Donald Trump tried to steal an election that he lost.
The former president must be held accountable for his actions. It is up to a jury whether or not he is convicted, but the biggest move that could be made to save democracy from Trumpism is to criminally charge the former president for his attack on democracy.
This may now be in the works. This is a watershed moment in our history. And even the likes of Marge Greene can figure that much out.

I do believe Kooky Pants ought to be calling less of Jack Smith’s attention to herself. She bears a remarkable resemblance to the one who placed the pipe bomb.
