Chris Hayes had a very interesting segment last night on Mitch McConnell’s attempt to restore GOP sanity sanity with corporate America over their interference over voting rights in the states. I had to chew on it for a while to properly digest it before I wrote about it.
Basically, the segment proposed that Moscow Mitch is using quiet, backdoor channels to reassure the high echelons of corporate America that the GOP is not interested in waging war with their donor base over their stand. McConnell realizes that these CEO’s are simply placating their workforce and customer base. But so is the GOP, all of this sabre rattling is purely to placate the base, it’s business as usual.
Which leads me to the inescapable conclusion that Mitch McConnell is a total, irredeemable moron! McConnell is so totally bubble wrapped in the beltway cocoon and his thirst for power that he has no idea of what has actually happened socially in this country for the last 30 years. His last contact point with reality was in the late 80’s when he entered the cloistered halls of the Senate.
Mitch McConnell has no better understanding of corporate America than he does of thermonuclear dynamics. He sees corporate America as nothing more than one huge, lovely money pot to support the GOP. And he is in for a rude awakening.
Corporate America revolves around two things, the quality of its workforce, and their customer base. This is not a choice that these CEO’s wanted to make. If they honestly thought that neither their employees or their customer base gave a shit about voting rights, they would have kept their mouths shut! They were forced to do this by external pressure.
And now that they’re in the fray, they’re in it for good. Because now the eyes of their employees, as well as their social media savvy customer base are on them. If they feel that the company is backing off under political pressure, the calls for a boycott will start. The corporations no longer have any choice but to follow through.
OK, so that was the water, now we move onto the sugar. McConnell isn’t just out of touch with reality outside of the beltway, he has lost touch with his own caucus as well. As displayed by his reassurances to corporate America that GOP blustering and threats were just that, nothing had changed in the relationship between the GOP and corporate America.
Mitch McConnell is ready for an extended stay at The Shady Acres Rest Home. Drooling mental defectives like Josh Hawley, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz are not just playing semantic games with the Trump base, they are laser locked into them. They see them as their gateway to bigger and better things. And if the Trump base wants corporate blood badly enough, then these idiots will do everything in their power to make it happen. Because it has the potential of increasing their power and influence.
This cannot end well for either McConnell or the GOP. Mostly because Mitch McConnell is permanently lost at sea. He is going to be stunned when CEO’s and corporations continue to push, and even harder for voting equality, because he doesn’t realize that they have no choice! And when Trumpista’s like Lee, Hawley and Cruz push, and push hard to spank corporations and their CEO’s for interfering, McConnell won’t realize that they aren’t playing the same long term game that he is. Because they have their own agenda. Don’t touch that dial.

Great that there was an 80% drop in donations. Rethuglicans can usually read numbers, except for the really dumb ones who cannot determine the difference millions and billions. Trillions just cause them a brain bleed. That just leaves 20% certifiable nut jobs. The Turtle didn’t get his Russian plant and there is still a pretty good chance that his wife will be indicted for fraud and theft. Stupidity isn’t indictable unless you can prove money changed hands. It should be easily proved among most Republicans. Hopefully the Justice Department will be reconstituted soon and will start pursuing in earnest the January 6 idiots and the 2016 election idiots.
