Imagine a world where Alexander Vindman is led out of the White House by military police, and treated like a traitor for testifying against a traitor while Michael Flynn, who is a traitor, pardoned by the same traitor Vindman exposed, makes it his business to push the Big Lie and doomcast for America’s future — unless, of course, the Tangerine Traitor can be restored to his throne, then all will be fine and dandy. That is where we are folks.

Here is the disgraced three-star general scaring everybody.

Now, obviously, “failed ideology” is the buzzword for any kind of sane governance. Burn it all down is Flynn’s message. Flynn is doing a lead up to another insurrection, although he’s doing it rhetorically enough, but he’s doing it nevertheless.

And Flynn also went on to deify Trump — and himself — saying that “when we get together we talk about how ‘clean’ the other is. Not even an unpaid parking ticket.” That’s the way a couple of innocent chaps talk to one another all the time, isn’t it? They’re laughing at how they have used the law to avoid the consequences of the law and ain’t it a real hoot? Yes, at democracy’s expense.

And again I will say that General Flynn talking all this doomspeak, at a time when others in the right-wing world are talking about how the military is in charge and going to restore Trump to power, is very ominous. People believe this drivel. Tragic but true. And as long as the people who believe it are going to vote based upon those deranged beliefs, we are in peril.

  1. That’s where we’d be if we let the GQP take over. (It would make *them* happy. They hate democracy, women, students, minorities, educators and scientists….)

    • Well, it would make them happy until *they* become the targets of their “friends.”

      As Martin Niemoller confessed

“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

“Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

“Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

“Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

That’s how it ALWAYS happens in totalitarian/authoritarian regimes. You’re only part of the “in-crowd” until SOMETHING needs to become the newest scapegoat–something the regime or its leaders needs to divert the rest from the real troubles.
