Once again a glimpse into the dysfunctional freakshow that is the world of Donald Trump. His third *wife* is 1,200 miles away — we think. The photo you’re seeing was taken in New York City while Donald is in Florida. Or, Donald may be in New Jersey. Point being, whatever golf course he’s on, in whatever city, at whatever property, his titular wife is someplace else. And that’s how it is expected to stay.
Melania has options.

The story on the street is that Melania is in New York City and will likely stay there because Barron is rumored to be beginning college at New York University in the fall. That could be. Or something entirely different could be contemplated. The Trumps are not known for their transparency. Daily Beast:
After being AWOL at last week’s presidential debate in Atlanta and her husband’s criminal trial in Manhattan, Melania Trump surfaced on Monday in The Big Apple.
According to photos published by the Daily Mail, the former model and first lady was seen Monday in a black coat and shades carrying luggage into Trump Tower, where she and Donald Trump stay when not in Florida at Mar-a-Lago.
Her conspicuous absence from the debate last Thursday raised eyebrows as President Joe Biden’s wife was in clear view, walked him offstage, and even joined him onstage afterward to applaud his performance.
“Joe, you did such a good job. You answered every question, you knew all the facts. Let me ask the crowd—what did Trump do? Lie,” Jill Biden said after the debate.
In contrast, Melania has been silent regarding her husband’s performance at the debate and re-election campaign overall. She didn’t even wish the former president a happy birthday on social media last month, unlike his kids.
Now I have to admit, I thought that was a bit of a low blow, to not wish Trump a happy birthday.
Nobody really cares where Melania is. She is such a zilch of a personality in her own regard that she could run off and marry a Greek shipping magnate and it’s highly unlikely that she would continue to command all the covers of the tabloids for decades more to come, as in the case of Jackie Onassis, who was an influential First Lady and a style icon the rest of her born days. Melania is strictly dullsville by comparison.
But the fact that she’s not even putting up a facade of being with Donald or giving the slightest bit of a tinker’s damn about his campaign is comical. Like so many things Trumpian, it is a case of first impression.
Anybody want to lay odds that she won’t show up at the Republican convention? If she does, it will be because they paid her a hefty sum. Let’s see what happens. It’s known that she intends to give another fundraising party in Trump Tower for the Log Cabin Republicans. They’ve adopted Melania as their mascot, so to speak, so she’ll speak for them and help collect money.
But as to the big show, the sentencing in New York City on July 11, color her absent. And as to the really big show, the Republican National Convention, I would lay odds no higher than 50/50 if I were you. She clearly wants out and has made no bones about that. Even in the event that Trump would retake the White House, Melania has made it clear that she doesn’t intend to be there. She’ll call the job in. Maybe. When and if she feels like it.
