Man, it is really tough to stay principled and away from clickbait bait but this story is sort of necessarily twisted up as both politics and sex. It actually could matter. JD Vance certainly has his eyes on the Oval Office, and on a certain very attractive blonde. He also happens to be married, and yet, weirdly, has come out in the open in expressing frustration with his wife while being a bit weird. Is all of this the predicate for Vance to move into the fast lane with a good conservative woman, playing the hero in taking care of her and her children – the newly widowed Erika Kirk?
Due to a really, really intimate hug, one might say a highly inappropriate one for a woman with a married man, the net is absolutely buzzing over the bizarre scene playing out before our eyes.
It is probably best to first set out what all the scintillating talk is about. Here is the picture of the almost mystifying hug, one totally excused by a MAGA. To all the Vance apologists out there, saying it is absolutely nothing, try to imagine two sorta close work friends, one married, hugging like this in the office totally in front of others, including the wife. No. Fcking. Way.

Okay. Now that is absolutely weird enough. Even if there was kinda something between them, she is only one month widowed. Now, I am certainly not going to judge any spouse as to how they handle being hit that hard (One could totally lose themselves), but it is worth kinda judging the response from Vance and both the left and right.
Weirder still, here is Erika talking about how JD Vance reminds her of her husband. Now that seems really weird, even though I refuse to judge.

Again, it is just odd. And again, I simply refuse to judge her reaction. Someone hit that hard by an absolute tragedy gets the benefit of nearly all doubt on this. If one has never been through it, it’s best to leave it alone.
Hopefully moving on, knowing I will get absolutely raked in the comments, it is a fact that she is extremely physically attractive. Of course, it is totally offset by some hateful views. (Please just save it, well aware of the underlying thing). But I mention her physical attributes only to wonder if JD isn’t a bit hooked.
Saying it once again, this isn’t about Erika. I cannot imagine the pain and what she is going through, handling it however she wants. This is about JD Vance alone and what might be the key to a possible run for the Oval Office. You see, he has a problem. His wife is Indian and not Christian, and that could well be a huge liability for a GOP player. Multi-racial, a family that is newly immigrant (second generation), and a mix of agnostic and Hindu? Trouble.
Making matters even worse – which seems impossible. JD just came right out and spilled his marital issues all over the lawn… and the cameras. He noted that he hoped that Usha, his wife, would convert to Christianity and away from Hinduism. To the extent that could be an issue in their marriage (And to many couples, it is a legitimate issue in bonding), that should probably stay between them on the leather couch after the kids have gone to bed. That’s about as intimate a talk as it gets. But no…

Going out of my way to try to be fair and play this without the histrionics found on Twitter, by both sides, this can be a totally legitimate issue in a married couple, where faith plays an important role for one or both. But it is very close to the most intimate topics one could explore with a spouse and not something aired out to an audience.
So what is really going on here? It is probably nothing – probably. But the comments by both Vance and Erika are head scratchers. We will once again note that a woman who is a close office friend to a married man is not going to hug him like that in front of others. Not without serious threats to his marriage. (Imagine a wife seeing that.)
And, to put it really out there. In the back recesses of his mind, is JD really considering the boost he would get in the polls that see him as otherwise pretty boring, if he swooped in to save the widow and help her raise her three children, all while the country sympathizes with her grief? Does that become not only sexual but political dynamite?
Okay, okay, the more reasonable readers will note that this is getting extended pretty far out there. So let’s bring the story back to the waves this is making and the MAGA response: “No big deal.” Actually, it could be. After all, the man that she hugged like that is also the man that she said reminds her of her husband.
That, too, is really out there. But don’t judge.

That is more likely true than the opposite. Though it would bother a few voters, the “body” of the MAGA movement has specialized in finding a way to excuse just about everything. He’ll do anything and become whatever and whoever he thinks will get him what he wants. Sorry but I’m going to say it Widow Kirk is such a nasty phoney! They deserve each other.
I think she was deeply in love with Kirk. But I also think that she’s more than capable of “seeing him” in others and moving on both politically and personally.

You are probably just as likely to be right as anyone.
On a purely objective scale most men would say that she is physically quite attractive. Understand your view – everyone is different. But I think that’s a safe one.
As for whether you think the hug is normal/weird, that, too – is a reasonable subjective take.
