This is one of those classic good news, bad news conundrums. The good news is Matt Gaetz might not run for reelection and he might even leave Congress before the end of his term. The bad news is that he would go over to Newsmax and be a talking head there. The conundrum is where would he do the most damage? He views the Newsmax gig as a stepping stone to national office, let’s not even try to think about which one. Axios:

Why it matters: Gaetz is a provocative figure on the right who’s attracted attention by being a fierce defender of former President Trump. The Republican also represents a politically potent district on the Florida panhandle.

What we’re hearing: Gaetz has told some of his allies he’s interested in becoming a media personality, and floated taking a role at Newsmax.

  • One of the sources said Gaetz has had early conversations with the network about what a position could look like.

The backdrop: Many Republicans turned to the network after Fox News called Arizona early for President Biden.

  • Some critics now say Fox is not conservative enough for their tastes, providing an opening for Newsmax and the One America News Network (OANN).

  • Gaetz has previously toyed with the idea of running for higher office.

It’s just more of the disgusting and toxic melange of Trump world, where show biz and politics meet in dystopian splendor. You never knew the movie Idiocracy was prophetic, did you?

You’ll see a lot more of this. Kayleigh McEnany is now a Fox co-host, after a month on the job, and Lara Trump will be doing nothing but a political ad for herself while she’s on Fox. And you well remember Kudlow, Shine, the rest of them. And they all have “R”s after their name, no coincidence there. Regressive, racist, Republicans, broadcasting on right-wing media.

  1. Wow, Fox is not conservative enough because they had the nerve to tell the truth! This is just so repulsive, what they are devolving into. I just certainly hope the majority of Americans continue to rise up against and overcome this offensiveness.

    • The political strategist on the Fox Decision Desk, I think it’s called, got fired. He did what was right and called Arizona for Biden on election night, he was correct, and he went out the door. The Los Angeles Times did a big piece on it.

  2. More weirdness out of Trumpworld. I am unsure where Gaetz could do the least harm. On a desert island maybe? “Here in the islands, the days they run so long . . .”

    • He who shall not be named and a bunch of his criminal cronies all need to be exiled with only the clothes on their backs. I would suggest Clipperton Island. The onlt problem is that the island has a large population of crabs, and we wouldn’t want to poison them!

  3. The blending of religion and politics brought us Reagan and Bush. Adding show biz to the mix brought us tRump and all the wretched, vile, superficial wannabes that have spent the last few years of their lives puckering up to kiss his gigantic orange ass. I’d rather Gaetz leave the House so he doesn’t get a vote there. There really isn’t anyplace for him, Cruz, Hawley, Graham, McConnell, Gym Jordan, Nunes, Bobert, Greene, any of them, where they can’t do harm. It’s their intent, their purpose, their goal in life, to do more harm.

By the way, it’s been a week now since I’ve received an email announcing new articles in the newsletter. I’ve been using the last email to access PZ, but that stopped working today. I’ve written the webmaster twice about it. So far, nada! What’s up?

  4. Here’s a safety measure by those running the networks … provide studio space for all these rat faced drooling Republicans like all those mentioned by Carol O above …
Tell them they have a special radio/TV operation more powerful than all the other fake news media centers …

Send them out to a fancy looking building complex a few miles east of LV in the desert … there will be the usual tower structure and a studio divided into radio and TV areas … the TV studio has cameras locked into proper place for the commentator’s desks – – the radio studio has the super microphones on booms and the across-the-table interview setup in place … everything they need, restrooms, kitchenette with refrigerator and freezer, loaded with a month’s supply of food …

The whole system appears to be working normally, monitors show the views from the cameras, audio volume meters next to the microphones show levels as the microphones are used … there are even commercials cued up to be played at the push of a button … there are a couple other things as well …

The studio engineer in his own little space behind bullet proof glass windows overlooking both the radio and TV systems — has his own secured access to his space separate from the way everyone else accessed the building and announces that the front doors are locked and they will not be leaving this big playhouse, there are bunk beds for the women on one hall and the men on another …

There are first aid materials available, and if there is a fire, the front doors open out to several state police and their own AR15’s for grouping away from the fire …

None of the material leaves the station there are no waveguides or cables out to the tower, the whole studio is just a set … fresh food will be delivered while the dorms are locked down …

Their own special hell for the biggest liars …
