Mary Trump has one attribute that the rest of us have, but she has it in spades: She’s seen Donald Trump get away with his evil her entire life. The rest of us, with the exceptions of New Yorkers who read the tabloids, have only been getting the Trump Treatment for the past seven years or so.

So Dr. Trump knows what it is to be exhausted. And we certainly know what it is, too. She wrote tonight on her Substack page, The Good In Us:

Tonight, we learned that when Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis says “imminent,” she means approximately seven-and-a-half months. As frustrating as it’s been to wait, it now appears that all of that time (while justice ground slow but exceedingly fine), D.A. Willis was honing her case with such exquisite care that a Fulton County Grand Jury heard from approximately seven witnesses and returned ten indictments against an unknown number of individuals in one day.

What we also saw is that, unlike Federal courtrooms, there are cameras in the courtroom of Judge Robert McBurney which means that there will be nowhere for Donald Trump to hide. He can claim all he wants that the arraignments and trials should be televised (in fact, his legal team has argued they want cameras in Judge Tanya Chutkan’s courtroom where the January 6thcase will be held), but this is amongst certainly not the case. Even if it is, he will come to regret it.

It is very possible that it is the Georgia case that will now drive the timeline for the other cases. But whatever happens, I think it’s likely that the plaintiffs—we, the American electorate—will be afforded more transparency, more openness, and more deliberate speed than in other venues.

I’m still trying to process what’s happened tonight—and obviously there is still a lot we don’t know—but for reasons I can’t yet fully articulate, this feels different from all of the indictments that have come before. This feels pivotal, this feels more real.

I know what she means. And I think there are a couple of reasons this feels different. First, there’s an inclusivity about all this. Georgia was ground zero. The greatest outrage, in many ways, happened in Georgia. And the indictments reflect this. Mark Meadows, Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Jenna Ellis (she must be s*iting her britches, she’s managed to emerge from all this unscathed up until now) Jeffrey Clark, Sidney Powell, it’s the pantheon of right-wingnuttia stars, all named in one indictment. The very scope of this indictment is more sweeping than the others. Nay, the word to describe it is breathtaking.

Another reason this feels different is because as each of these indictments have taken place — plus the civil trial in which E. Jean Carroll was victorious, don’t forget about that — they have served to reinforce one another and to remind us one and all of what a total crook and degenerate Donald Trump is. Some of these cases before the court have overlapping fact patterns. All of them have in common the criminality of Trump. In toto, they form a cavalcade of crime and Trump’s co-defendants form a cornucopia of co-conspiring culprits.

98 pages friends. Add that to Jack Smith’s 49-page opus and to the other documents on file in the other cases.

Here’s Trump’s statement.

Here we are at the crossroads of American history. Will truth win out? Will lies trump truth? Will Trump prevail or will the rule of law? It really is that basic. Back in the 1850s, the muskets came off from the tops of the mantels and men marched to war. But this is the 21st century. This is the culture war and it’s going to be waged on television.

  1. Well, it appears D. J. T has just been criminally indicted in GA along with several other defendants – there are a lot of charges. The stars are beginning to line up – that’s refreshing and heartening.

  2. Let’s not forget all the players, the accused and the witnesses are Republicans. The unindicted co-conspirators are also Republicans. For such a senile old man, dark Brandon is the mastermind of the century to get them to commit crimes and turn on each other. How does he do it? He’s the David Copperfield of politics.
Oh, and that crying Maga lady asking for Trump to save them, posted earlier, needs to be told he’s too busy trying to save his own arse.

  3. When (if ever) will it get through people’s heads that he is NOT ‘running for president’ but running for the Republiqanon nomination to run for president.

    It’s NOT the same thing.

    • “In toto, they form a cavalcade of crime and Trump’s co-defendants form a cornucopia of co-conspiring culprits.”

I was going to compliment Ursula on her use of so many words that begin with the letter “C” in the same sentence! You beat me to the punch, Concinnity!

  4. “…The ones who should be prosecuted are the ones who created the corruption…”

HOLY COW. He got ONE sentence RIGHT after all that drivel!!!

  5. What is he, four years old? All that name calling is so juvenile, and repetitive as he says the same stoopid stuff over and over. It seems the best he can do is throw tantrums and name call. Like we need that running the country. Sorry, I’ll opt for a compassionate, competent candidate over a whinny, sniveling, vindictive a**hole anytime. With any luck he’s going to push Chutkan too far and find himself behind bars with no cell phone. We can hope.

    • Back when he was a four year old, someone should have given him the ass whipping he so richly deserved and then not stopped with the ass whippings until such a time as he was able to comport himself in a seemly manner. Nobody did so now we’re left with a 77 year old former president who acts like a four year old.

Putting him in the pokey to await trial is the Find Out moment he needs very badly.

  6. I posted a copy of that statement on my Facebook account. I got a like from one friend and a comment from another who agreed with me regarding it. I copied it from Trump’s Truth Social (which is definitely NOT truthful!) web site. I joined Truth Social so I could keep track of all of his idiotic posts.

    • Why Miranda? Why would you do that to yourself? Aren’t there enough people (Ursula) who will just give you the highlights (oops – LOWlights!!!) ???
