Another trend you see a lot of these days in the GOP is the craziest and least qualified women running for Congress on the Republican ticket. Hopefully we’ll be done with Lauren Boebert in June. That’s when the Colorado primary is held and she’s trailing badly in third place in CO-04, the district she fled to when Adam Frisch started to gain fundraising speed in CO-03. And I hate to say this, because if there is one thing I’m in favor of, it’s women having equal parity in the work place. But I have to say, the women who run on the Republican ticket are simply appalling, in the main.
Nancy Mace went on Charlie Kirk’s show and said that Donald Trump had not been found civilly liable or criminally guilty for raping E. Jean Carroll. That is not true. The judge himself stated that Trump had raped Carroll and that information was entered into the Congressional Record. Mace playing armchair lawyer and suggesting that George Stefanopolous defamed Trump and should be sued for defamation is plain nuts. But it makes the right-wing MAGAs take out their wallets and contribute, I guess.

Mace calls Stefanopolous a troll, she’s the troll. She’s literally a rape victim who is defending a rapist. That is how plain it is. And that’s the only point that Stefanopolous was making. Maybe this is Mace attempting to get on the ballot as Trump’s VP. If Katie Britt was vying for that, I think we can safely say that’s not going to happen. She alienated MAGA, so Trump’s not going to go with her as a running mate. He’s got enough trouble trying to walk back his comments about vaccine, he doesn’t need another liability.
And you know it’s not going to be Ramaswamy. Probably Stefanik. Trump has some crazy idea that he can win New York and he thinks Elise Stefanik can help him. That said, he also has some crazy idea he can win the Black vote and Tim Scott is supposed to help him with that.
And then there’s Kristy Noem, who just cut a five-minute infomercial for a Texas dentist. This is the kind of person that gets into GOP politics these days. They have no interest in serving the public, they just want to be celebrities and sell things. I think the GOP should be honest about what it’s name means nowadays. Screw Grand Old Party, now it’s Grifting Over Politics. That’s who they are. That’s their handle. Nevertheless, she may end up being a vice presidential candidate on Trump’s ticket.
It’s too soon to tell. Whatever running mate Trump picks, it’s going to be a strange combination, much stranger than the Trump/Pence match up. As oddball as the Hoosier Evangelical and the trust fund baby reality TV actor were, Pence was an identifiable Republican type and he could project the Safe Republican Daddy persona — or at least that’s what he attempted to do. There is nobody on Trump’s 2024 list that is remotely credible in that regard. Not one person. They’re all sellouts of the highest magnitude.
And they’re happy to sell out. The most fervent hope of all of them is that Trump will get back in, stay in power forever, and so will they. I’m sure Elise Stefanik sees herself being with Trump until his dying day and then taking over the helm — probably without an election. Why bother with elections? And then Stefanik can be our dictator/queen until she dies.
This is getting totally out there. Let’s hope for a bombastic Trump loss in November followed by some kind of restructuring of the GOP.
There’s stupid, magat stupid, and then there’s female congressional magat stupid. I’m not saying there aren’t some appalling males in congress but magat women in congress take this to a whole new level thinking it burnishes their xtian street cred. Of course what is does do, both the male and female versions, is chase off the young people who might have kept the various xtian orgs, particularly the evang xtian orgs from going out of business. We’ll be rid of these cons-they’ll be dying off as the years go by. Getting them out of high office ought to be a priority-can’t wait for their eventual deaths since it takes longer than we’d like and our nation hangs in the balance.
