Theatrics are going to cost a few members of congress a nice chunk of pay, and rightfully so. Louie Toujours l’idiote Gohmert and his fellow gun toting congresscritter Andrew Clyde of Georgia were fined $5,000 today for skipping the metal detectors.
Reps Louie Gohmert of Texas and Andrew Clyde of Georgia have both received notices of $5000 fine for skipping past the magnetometers outside the House chamber, Senior democratic aide confirms.

The fines are automatically deducted from their paychecks. Maybe this will wake them up. There is no reason to carry a gun to work, unless you’re a member of the military or a police officer. Being a wingnut congressman with a flare for the dramatic and the macho doesn’t count. But some people can’t learn anything until you hit ’em where it hurts.

How does fining these asshats keep anyone safe? If they’re not going to go through the metal detector then they should be barred from entering the chamber. Who does it help if they end up hurting or killing someone with their weapon? That $5000 fine doesn’t fix it. Ban them from the chamber.
