I’ll admit in the past sometimes feeling bad for ‘Little Marco’ Rubio. I can assure you those days are long gone. Granted, given the cast of Klown Kar characters Trump stocked his second administration with I’ll admit that Rubio was at least marginally qualified when he was picked to be Secretary of State. Did I say marginally? From his performance his so-called qualifications have turned out to be as tissue paper thin as Trump’s ego. But he does try to position himself as Trump’s heir apparent. And keeps failing, most recently by claiming ‘Citizenship is not for sale.’ On social media Little Marco is being ruthlessly reminded that under his boss it actually is!
I can’t say for sure if Rubio is so overwhelmed he simply forgot or is trying to prove ha can brazenly lie for Trump as well as any other minion but as Alternet reports his latest claim is a doozy. And people haven’t been shy about mocking him on social media over it. Rubio smugly made a claim that various people have pointed out is literally the opposite of the truth:
“American citizenship is not for sale,”declared Secretary of State Marco Rubio in a rambling post about “birth tourism” and how the Trump administration was defending “the integrity of U.S. citizenship.”
“How quickly we forget that it was literally for sale,” noted Washington Post National Security Editor Ben Pauker, linking to an application for the Trump Gold Card. Launched in September, this program allows individuals and corporate-sponsored employees from abroad to buy residency for $1 million and $2 million, respectively, providing an expedited pathway to citizenship. Many pointed out the contradiction between Trump’s controversial card and Rubio’s claim that citizenship isn’t up for sale.
Given the fanfare with which Trump announced his program it’s hard to believe Rubio, who is after all Secretary of State and is (or should be) familiar with policy regarding Visas, immigration and so on. So he was probably lying. However at times it’s seemed like what is a huge job (SecState) has been only a portion of what Trump has tasked Rubio with. Not that Jared was ‘all that’ when he was Trump’s ‘take care of everything’ guy in the first administration but Rubio is even less capable than Jared!
Still, the plain fact is that Trump DID create a ‘Citizenship For Sale’ program as has been pointed out on social media:
“It literally is, thanks to your boss,” said Republicans Against Trump.
“Tell me more about the Trump gold card,” posted Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson. “Citizenship is quite literally for sale.”
“These clowns don’t even know their own policies,” declared another commenter. “Rubio claims American citizenship is not for sale as Trump is selling $1 million gold cards to grant citizenship to wealthy foreign nationals. More proof that the US government solely exists to serve the rich.”
Sorry Marco but when it comes to brazen lying you just don’t have what it takes. You projected more substance when taking those tentative sips of water in that infamous State of the Union response speech all those years ago. Now that I think about it you’ve really gone and stuck his foot in his mouth again. A foot wearing those ridiculous oversized shoes Trump gave him and others. I recall some memes of Rubio sucking up to Trump by wearing the damned things at some event. Clown shoes for a junior/little clown.

And if like me when this whole program was announced appalled and concerned the latter part reassuringly tells us how for all our worries it’s mostly been a flop.
