C-Span occasionally comes up with some jewels and this is one of those times. It highlights the ever present schism in both the Republican party, what’s left of it, and the rift in the MAGA movement. Anybody in this country to the right of a centrist Democrat is part of a faction that is at war with itself. That’s as plain as it gets. And now Elon Musk seeks to throw another monkey wrench into the works, as if he hasn’t thrown enough, with his America party. We’ll see how far that gets. But the reason I share this clip is because it’s a reminder that not every single Republican went bonkers when Trump came on the scene. This man did not. How I wish there were more like him. How I wish there were enough to make a difference.

That’s music to my ears, “I’ve voted Republican my entire life but I didn’t vote for Trump.” He’s not alone in that. Ron Filipkowski, who is now the Editor in Chief of Meidas Touch, is the same breed of cat. He wouldn’t vote for Trump either and left the Republican party. These flashes of sanity are wonderful to behold. But clearly they are buried under the avalanche of lies that we are subjected to daily.

And therein lies the rub. The elected Republicans, with rare exception, cosign on everything and anything that Trump does. It doesn’t matter how outrageous it is, they find a way to rationalize it.
And that is where it has devolved to, basic right v. wrong. Basic human decency v. indecency. Trump is an indecent, evil, pathetic excuse for a person, let alone a leader. I marvel that he has become a leader in this country. The animals are smarter than we are. You don’t see a scenario where the stupidest, weakest lion is head of the pride. Or the least worthy wolf leading the pack. It simply does not exist.
But we have reached a place in human evolution where this very thing has happened. Witness it and marvel. We are living at a very unique time in American history. it hasn’t even been six months that Trump has been back in power and look at how we live: We’re panicking over whether his bombing Iran has escalated tensions with that country to the point where we need to fear retaliation and the answer is yes. Just because the return punch hasn’t come yet does not mean it won’t come.
Look at what has happened with the other hot wars. Look at how Trump has depleted our missiles stock with his theatrical bomb run. We could go on and on. And it’s still eight more days until his six month anniversary. The horror show continues another three and a half years.

We have to be on the ball, out there, exposing, shouting and, of coutse, building the case against T and his lickspittle tribe and for democratic values and Democratic policies
