This is strange. I was just watching tape of the Golden Globes and Elvis’ daughter, Lisa Marie, was with her mother at the Golden Globes tearing up over the speech that Austin Butler gave about playing Elvis.
That was just two days ago and now the woman is dead. Presley was married four times, first to musician Danny Keough and then to Michael Jackson. She later married actor Nicolas Cage and guitarist Michael Lockwood. She had four children, one of whom killed himself with a shotgun a few years ago. Associated Press:
WEST HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Lisa Marie Presley — the only child of Elvis Presley — died Thursday after being hospitalized earlier that day, her mother said in a statement. The singer was 54.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said in a statement Thursday evening. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
The announcement came just hours after Priscilla Presley had confirmed that Lisa Marie Presley was rushed to the hospital earlier Thursday.
Los Angeles County paramedics were dispatched to a Calabasas home at 10:37 a.m. following a report of a woman in full cardiac arrest, according to Craig Little, a spokesperson for the county’s fire department. Property records indicate Presley was a resident at that address.
Paramedics arrived about six minutes later, Little said. A subsequent statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said paramedics performed CPR and “determined the patient had signs of life” before taking her to a hospital in nearby West Hills immediately.
54 is awfully young. I remember the day Lisa Marie was born and now the day she died. The woman lived a full life. Remember that line from Blade Runner, “The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long.” It would seem so in this case.
Is it just me or have in recent times quite a few famous people (actors, musicians, athletes, other “celebrities”) under the age of 65 been dying? Some quite a bit young than 65 in fact. Seems weird, at least to me.
As we age, we become more cognizant of what that age really is. 65 used to seem pretty old to me until I got there. Now I’m turning 70 — and that always seemed old. Yes, it’s a lot of years but 70 doesn’t necessarily translate into decrepitude.
What I’m learning is that age is a very individual thing. You can put two people of the same age side by side and they might be as different as day and night.
My friend Stella started writing metaphysical books at 65 and she had five published by the time she was 85. She lived to be 97. It’s all individual.
I think such as always been the case, just seems weirder now that life expectancy is longer.
She had her daddy’s eyes for sure …Sorry to hear she passed .
Very sad that her son decided to take his own life. I knew a guy who rented to Mary Tyler Moore’s son at one point. He also chose to take his life that way, with a shotgun, also a young man.
Her son looked a lot like E also.
In the clips of her at the Golden Globes she seemed unwell – unsteady on her feet, etc. So much loss in her life. Very tragic.
She had issues with drugs and alcohol when she was much younger. I think the drugs included cocaine which can damage the heart.
I wonder if she had Covid any time in the last 6-12 months. There’ve been cases in Australia where formerly fit and healthy people survived a bout of Covid only to end up with serious heart conditions that killed them in their 50s. Issues with drugs and alcohol would’ve left her particularly vulnerable to severe heart damage from Covid.
We’re all the same age. Here. No one has a guarantee of anything.
