Look, I know, I get it. You’re pissed because Dominion Voting Machines settled for $787 million instead of the full Monty of $1.6 billion. And I know that you’re pissed that Dominion didn’t get a full on air apology with a concession of guilt from the FUX News prime time lineup. Although a pre prime time lineup host reported on the settlement, related previous FUX News statements, and said, This was obviously false. Maybe not a full public confession, but not something that FUX’s viewers wanted to hear.
Because the simple fact of the matter is that Dominion Voting Systems kicked FUX’s *ss so hard that they had to go on Amazon and order another one. Dominion got everything they wanted today in that settlement.
As I wrote earlier today, if Rupert Murdoch had not been such a senile dotard, more interested in chasing his 34th trophy wife all over the planets hot spots than in business, and if the FUX News board of directors had been more involved, and if the FUX Lawyers had acted in a professional and ethical manner, Dominion could have gotten this deal six months ago.
Six months ago. That would be before the discovery portion of the process would have begun. That would have been months before Rupert Murdoch was ordered by the court to appear for an eight hour deposition with the plaintiffs attorneys. And it would be well before a pissed off judge released a treasure trove of FUX e-mails, chats, and text messages showing their total complicity.
And who knows. Maybe the FUX News lawyers offered the exact same, or similar deal six months ago. But the Dominion lawyers were smart, and they smelled blood in the water. And that offer, almost certainly like the offer they accepted today, allowed FUX to escape with no acceptance of responsibility or admission of wrongdoing. Which is what they agreed to today, simply because they could.
And so Dominion went to discovery, and they went to depositions, and in so doing, they stripped FUX News naked. They used the judges outrage at the FUX News attorney playing fast and loose with materials to get documents released to the public that showed FUX”s complicity, their anchors disdain for their own viewers, and Rupert Murdoch’s own admission of his daily involvement, and his refusal to disengage FUX from the lies.
Revenge is a dish best served cold. And Dominions revenge today came fresh out of the freezer. Look, nobody who is addicted to FUX News is even going to know about this settlement. FUX is a propaganda network. But FUX News is also a broadcast news channel. Which means that they are reliant on advertisers to fund their operation. And by airing FUX’s dirty laundry in public, Dominion laid FUX’s public, Dominion laid FUX’s corporate dishonesty and total lack of journalistic integrity out there for everybody to see. And now it’s up to national corporations to decide whether or not they want to be associated with the network.
I’ll close with this. According to MSNBC today, FOX News stock is down 10% since the discovery process started. Rush Limbaugh was the king of conservative radio until he insulted a college student for being a slut. After Flush Rush took over online, pressuring Limbaugh advertisers, Limbaugh actually ended up with dead air time during his commercial breaks, because even public service announcements would let him air their ads. This could be the future with FUX News. I love a happy ending.
So. Basically since corporations are amoral (although immoral fits. Amoral: never got the hang of it as a kiddo… until in college. Comic books. Galactus. Marvel comics. A character who is not chaos (that would be Thanos’ job) but just a force of nature or universe. It is just so.)… that means that sane decent moral folk with integrity and money to burn are going to have to follow the rush Limbaugh playbook. And bring a large horse pooper scooper as well. Since congress hasn’t made social media a utility (fat chance) or a target/concern of national security (AI, cyber, misinformation and disinformation, general villainy), then the public must… hmmm… unite with moral outrage and money (or lack thereof). Even Swedish farmers threatened (? Or did) cut off grain to absolute vodka; nyet to selling to Russians. Another target rich corporate environment: those that still deal with murdering raping Russian government.
If fat a$$ gets crushed like this, that means he will still be evading taxes for another 20 years.
They should not have settled out of court. fox should be bankrupt and off the air…
The top 400 richest families in America paid a smaller tax rate than the middle class. Five billionaires, including Musk, Bezos, Bloomberg, Soros, and one I forget, paid ZERO federal taxes. When will the American public start electing those dedicated to ending poverty rather than protecting fortunes? The murdochs of the world were created by POLICIES. They put 400 million guns on the street. They have perpetuated systemic racism and fear for 240 years filling our airwaves with lies and propaganda 24/7. Black teenagers can’t ring a doorbell safely in this country. Then, when shot, is refused help by the neighbors of the shooter. Every person ever arrested for cannabis is a political prisoner; the law, based on two lies, was put into place by a criminal president to have a reason to arrest civil rights and antiwar activists. He walked on his crimes. Millions of nonviolent people have been put in prison, falsely accused of harming the common good,(hey lawyers…remember what the purpose of laws are supposed to be?), while the purveyors of death, i.e., the etoh, tobbaco, fossil fuel, pharmaceutical, chemical, and the processed food industries get rich. Then they get rich again due to the health cost of the diseases these corporations cause. When the hypocrisy of the rich is rigidified into law to promote THEIR interests, the poor have fewer choices and a sense of powerlessness sets in. Then they don’t vote.They get expunged from the voting registers, or lose track of the rule changes designed to disenfranchise them. Faux ‘news’, running constantly in millions of public spaces, catches the attention of people too busy scraping by to keep up with the truth or to read history books. The rich get their fortunes subsidized while the poor pay more just to keep the rain off their head. As James Baldwin said, it’s very expensive to be poor. The lies and crimes need to be exposed with the same intensify, in as many media venues as possible, broadcasting the FACTS. The DOJ needs to start by stepping in to stop broadcasting a station promoting fascism and the overthrow of our government on our military bases. Do you want our trained killers taking an oath to defend the constitution, and then convince them it’s bullshit? Until our policies bend to promoting economic justice, social justice, science, and to stop the systemic destruction of our planet for the profit for the few, we will not extricate ourselves from the tangled web we have woven. Glad to hear they have to pay something. Compared to the damage they have done, and are doing as I type, it’s a fart in a hurricane.

Not that pissed. I’m a realist. The thing is about litigation – over 3/4th of a billion $ is not pocket change for anyone. And it’s not just the cost of the penalty. Add in all the 1000s of man hours of discovery, atty fees, litigation costs and the time Fox executives had to spend defending this instead of doing other things to expand their efforts to destroy democracy and its way North of a billion. And anyone with half a brain knows no one settles out of court and pays that kind of cabbage unless they’re absolutely convinced they’ll lose going to trial – meaning they’re guilty without a doubt. One thing I’m disappointed with is that FauxNews did not have to make a public admission of guilt and a public apology to its viewers for all the harm caused from its lies. And also disappointed about no push for an agreement for stipulated penalties for similar future behavior. Expecting this penalty will be at least a temporary setback for FauxNews, and know this will be just the first round of many more lawsuits it has to defend. Last I counted there are over 20 more moving through the courts. That should keep the Faux shills busy bleeding cash, Faux’s reputation in the dumps, and Faux’s stock continuing downward for a long long time.

Sad tô say, but unless those other suits jointly take it down, though litigation and NOT settlement, FAUX will go on and on doubling diwn. The real punishment will only come when high jury awards combine with a loss of carruage fees cable companues tack onto our monthly cable bills, even when we refuse to turn on that drivel.. We must eemand that our providers remove FAUX from our bills or boycott them into dropping the chanbel altogether.
