I wonder if Karoline Leavitt has people writing her copy for her or if she just gets up there and wings it. Kayleigh McEnany was also a liar but she had the virtue of a law degree from Harvard and would never have said something this stupid. The issue was a ruling by federal Judge Trevor McFadden, who stopped short of immediately forcing the White House to restore the Associated Press’s access to the White House because the Associated Press had not shown “irreparable” harm would be caused if there wasn’t an immediate order. That’s the standard which justifies immediate action irreparable harm. The substantive issue will go before a judge and it’s expected to be shot down as an abridgement of the First Amendment. So Leavitt saw this as a major win, rather than an anticipated delay, because she has no idea how law or the Constitution works. Then maybe she should keep her mouth shut? Ya spose?
The Trump administration immediately began to spin it as a win.
“The winning continues here at the White House.… Today a federal judge right here in Washington, D.C., denied the Associated Press’s emergency request for a temporary restraining order to restore their privilege of returning to the White House press pool,” Leavitt said Monday on Fox News after McFadden’s decision. “The judge’s denial of the Associated Press’s request reinforces what I said from the podium last week and what President Trump has been saying: Covering the American presidency in the most intimate and limited spaces in this White House … is a privilege, it is not a legal right.”
Leavitt went on to shout out the right-wing podcasters and influencers who have been invited into the White House press corps.
But McFadden also warned that if and when this conflict (which stems from the AP refusing to abide by Donald Trump’s executive order to call the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America”) did go to court, the law would not be in the president’s favor. The right to a free and uninhibited press is one of the most basic tenets of the First Amendment.
While Trump doesn’t seem to care much for the gravity of the Constitution, the First Amendment does state that there shall be “no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.” The winning Leavitt bragged about may not last for long.
The smart move would have been to say absolutely nothing. Let it pass. But no, Leavitt — or whomever is running the show from the shadows — decided to go boast about what a “win” it was and it was not a win. Not on the facts, was it a win. Procedurally, it was correct and to the ignorant it may have looked like a “win” but there’s a vast difference between procedural and substantive issues but Leavitt is oblivious to this. Her obliviousness is on display every time she gets behind the podium.
Her youth, inexperience and lack of smarts is more evident with every briefing.

Leavitt doesn’t keep up on the news, which is odd for the White House press secretary. I’m thinking that she might start giving fewer press conferences. You remember Stephanie Grisham was the press secretary once, at least by title. She never gave a single press conference. I think I know why.

Friends, if you can contribute a few dollars to keep us afloat in these trying times, please do so. This kind of madness depresses people and America is tuning out. I don’t blame anybody for that. I only know the truth has to keep going out there and the hamstrung mass media is too afraid to provide context or illuminate all the stories of note. That’s why we’re here. Thank you. Ursula

Whatever happened to sorority girls staying in their lane…getting drunk and naked on spring break…hooking up with the drunk moronic fraternity guys? Some people are so vacuous, there’s nothing behind their moronic stare. She is one of those. She’s perfect for the job. At least her eyes line up unlike Satan’s mistress from bumphuck Arkansas. I like to look liars in the eyes.
Hucky Boo Boo was 35 when she was press secretary. I was amazed to learn that. I thought she was in her 50’s. Hand to God.
I’m very used to the obfuscation and lies from Republican Press Secretaries. I’m even used to nastiness from Sarah Huckabee Sanders. But, her nastiness had behind it a sense that she had been briefed on WTF is going on and that she and staff had brainstormed the bullshit.
Leavitt gives no such appearance. She doesn’t know what’s happening. She has not been read-in. But, she also has no carefully considered cover story. Just anger and bile directed outward. Has anybody ever counted how many times a day she screams “I’ve answered that four times already, maybe you should listen!” Yah, sure Karoline, because professional journalists love to waste their precious questioning time repeating questions you’ve already answered! Be a better liar and you won’t have to rely on being a bitch, bitch! 🤨
I agree. Hucky Boo Boo was no shining light but she did get the gist of what was going on. That’s probably why she was given the role of rebuttal to Joe Biden’s first SOTU address — which she pyrotechnically fucked up. Steve Bannon said, “she didn’t have the intellect for the job.” I don’t know if you remember that debacle but she didn’t “rebutt” so much as she reminisced about going to Iraq with Trump. It was a howler.
Leavitt falls on her ass every single day. This is the guaranteed comic relief of this administration. Frankly, I think she’ll start doing fewer press conferences. Either that, or she’s going to have to learn how to do the job. I think she thought it was all smiling for the camera. Now she’s finding out the depth of the situation and so her reply is to be nasty all the time.
When the article said the smart move would have been to say nothing I immediately thought of Joe Deters on the Ohio Supreme Court and his ruling on boneless chicken wings for some reason. He’s been ridiculed greatly for it and this was certainly one of those cases the court should have declined to hear rather than tell us we should not expect a boneless chicken wing to be boneless. In other words, said nothing.
