It’s pretty obvious what is going on with Kyle Rittenhouse. The cult of Trump has led to the ascension of many media heroes and a lot of them make a living off of donations, evidently. It must be nice. We ask for donations around here, too, but we also crank out a product seven days a week, not just talk about who we’re going to sue.
Rittenhouse had planned to go to nursing school and if he had continued with that plan, he might have made a good life for himself. But it looks like he’s decided to cash in on his notoriety and get the rubes to send him money to attack the bad guys, Trump’s enemies, MAGAs enemies, the media. One has to assume that he is at least vaguely familiar with New York Times v. Sullivan and he knows that the rights of public officials to sue for defamation are restricted. And granted he wasn’t a public official while the trial was going on but what were his damages at that time, and can he measure them? That’s the big question here. And as to suing anybody now for what they say, forget it.
But one also has to assume that he really doesn’t care if he sues anybody successfully or not, he’s just going to put his hand out there and see if anybody puts money into it so that he can become a mogul in media law.

What is sad about this is that rather than make something of himself, he’s going down this path. And it figures. The lure of easy money has got to be irresistible. But the downside of this is that if this doesn’t work out and he isn’t on easy street financially and a MAGA cult hero for the rest of his life, then he might have to actually go to school to learn how to do something and go get a job. And his prospective employers would probably be limited to MAGAs, because they alone would be accepting of this.

I guess we’ll just sit here and watch. It’s yet another side show in the Greatest Shitshow On Earth, produced by and starring Donald Trump. Again, my thought is that whomever is advising Rittenhouse has already explained the actual reality to him, but has also said, “Hey, give it a shot. Maybe you’ll get a couple of hundred grand. You didn’t have to work for it, right?” I think that’s what’s going on. Rittenhouse has decided to join up with Roger Stone, Sidney Powell and the rest of the grifters. Wonder why he hasn’t written a book yet? Maybe he should call Kayleigh McEnany and get some guidance.
Lebron? Really? Judge’ll toss it out way before any trial. He’s being used a tool and his ego is clueless.
Well, whatever he’d planned before the trial, I cannot imagine any hospital or even lowly doctor’s private office/practice risking the hiring of “Nurse Rittenhouse.”
Regardless of the verdict, his nursing career would have the permanent stink as an “Angel of Death.” I know if *I* were a hospital administrator or a physician in private practice, I wouldn’t hire Rittenhouse simply because insurance rates would skyrocket. *Maybe* there would be some patients who’d welcome Nurse Rittenhouse, but I can imagine there’d be far more who wouldn’t.
He wasn’t a public figure prior to his murdering and wounding people on the street. However, even if he didn’t think things through (as in what kind of spotlight would be shone on him if, as he hoped to do he got to use his GUN and play “hero”) he became a public figure due to the news coverage. Hell, Fox and other right wing outlets MAGAts turned him into a media sensation and not once did he publicly state he didn’t want that attention. In fact at one point he took part in trying to cash in on his celebrity. But even before his trial he WAS a public figure in both traditional and social media. And much of his trial was broadcast live and he took the stand in his own defense further cementing himself as a public figure. I’m not a lawyer, but from what I understand under Sullivan he meets the criteria of being a public figure. It’s a loser of a case, and if he hires a good lawyer(s) he will learn from them how lucky he was with the judge that heard his criminal case and also that the prosecutors weren’t as prepared as they should have been. LeBron James can hire much better legal talent than Rittenhouse. But even if the latter gets really good representation (possible) they will tell him what I just stated about his luck in the criminal case. They will also tell him that evidence that wasn’t allowed in his criminal trial will be allowed in a civil case and therefore a jury will get to consider more than what the judge in the criminal trial allowed. If all he’s doing is just taking a page out of Trump’s playbook and dangling the possibility to collect donations it’s sick as fuck but he will get away with it. However, I doubt a really good lawyer or law firm would take his case without a hefty retainer upfront because their odds of a payout, even some settlement is very small.
Except in the free advertising all those TV appearances will generate.

Him suing LeBron reminds me of a Seinfeld episode where George was trying to figure out how to get Susan to end the engagement. Kramer suggested a prenuptial agreement, which he assumed Susan would get offended by George’s insistence. The only problem was Susan was filthy rich & George was broke. She laughed him out of the room. Hey Kyle. Little tip 4u. The loser pays for the case & lawyer fees. Someone brought a baseless suit against me, a doctor, & the hospital. They lost.
