What a cast of characters we have doing political theater in both the upper and lower chambers of Congress this session. My Gawd. If it can get any stranger than this, I hope I don’t live to see it. Unless you were in a cave for the first three days of this week and are now just emerging into the sunlight, you know that fists and elbows were either thrown, or threatened in both the House and Senate.

The lack of civility in our nation has reached a new low. Of that there is no question. And the rationale for this is disturbing as well. Most pundits weigh in on the side of the normalization of violence in our culture — on the part of the GOP, let us make sure to stipulate here — as being a sign of support for their Nazi sloganeer standard bearer, Donald Trump. That is sobering. Which makes it all the more welcome that we have this bit of comic relief.

No, it was not the season finale — except for George Santos. That spin off show looks to be canceled, finally. It’s intriguing how that isn’t a bigger news piece today, but what I think is happening there, is that people are so disgusted with the fact that Santos hung on for so long, when he was so obviously guilty and corrupt, that we’ve all become jaded. Yes, it is a relief that Santos will soon be gone, but on a certain level, people are almost afraid to believe it. It’s simply because we have been through so much.

Speaking of what we’ve been through, here’s a trip down memory lane. Do you remember this one?

And while we’re walking down Memory Lane, how about this?

So, let’s review now, shall we? The UFO guy got elbowed by the used car salesman and this was because the UFO guy voted out the car salesman and voted in the dinosaur/ark guy. Whut? That’s the size of it, believe me. That’s the gravamen of the dispute, right there, the fact that Burchett didn’t want McCarthy anymore but he did want Johnson. And it makes perfect sense. UFO guys and dinosaur guys go together. Do we have a flat earther in Congress? We need a flat earther. Maybe Louie Gohmert knows somebody. Paul Gosar almost assuredly does.

What a clown show. What a zoo. This is what’s left of the GOP. And as Hakeem Jeffries said, it’s not over yet. There are many more spectacles to come. Heaven help us.

  1. We’ve all been trapped in a disgusting reality TV show that has killed hundreds of thousands of our citizens. Funny how the ‘tough’ guys run like hell if the fight actually comes to their door. Maybe we get the government we deserve by worshipping money, fame, possessions, sex, and a plethora of shallow bullsh*t. Hell is at our doorstep. VOTE!

  2. I can guarantee if someone came up to former guy (were he not to have the SS surrounding him) to knock the blazes out of him, trump would waddle away as fast as his fat ass allowed crying like a little girl. The one thing trump is NOT is a tough guy. The one thing he absolutely is? A poser.

  3. True Spike. He reminds me of bullies in middle school who had older brothers they called on when necessary. They never fought their own battles. Of course, the LAW has emboldened him by NEVER punishing his crap like they do to the rest of us on a daily basis for MUCH LESS. The hypocrisy stinks like all hypocrisy does.

  4. Sorry, my bad! Reuters said the Michelle Obama image was altered. She was wearing a tee that had a positive message. I shoulda known! 😬
