It’s good that I-Ron the Goddess of Irony has decided to rejoin us in this world, because the very definition of irony is getting twisted, bent and warped beyond recognition. Today, Kevin McCarthy decided to pat himself on the back for his leadership (yes, we know, we’re on the floor laughing as well) on the Paul Gosar anime scandal.
NEW: @GOPLeader McCarthy tells me he called Paul Gosar last week after he posted an anime video on Twitter depicting him killing AOC.
“I called him when I heard about the video, and he made a statement that he doesn’t support violence, and he took the video down," McCarthy said.

Wow, Kevin, that’s incredible. Hitler could have used a man like you. “I called Adolph when I heard about the camps and he said he had only killed six million people and he would stop, since the war was over anyway.”
I mean, what a grasp of the gravity of the issue, in both cases. Boys will be boys, right? And if you compare Paul Gosar to Hitler, I mean, really, Paul has only made a cartoon about assassinating a congress member and the sitting president and not really done it yet or anything, so what’s everybody upset about? Right?

Kevin, could we ask, if The Squad, for example, made this anime and it was you getting killed, what would you think then? Hmmm?
Could McCarthy be more of a weakling? Next Gosar will call McCarthy’s wife ugly.

Anyone who thought that Kevin McCarthy would take the smallest meaningful action with regard to Gosar hasn't been paying attention. That portion of him he hasn't pledged to Trump is focussed on insuring he gets to be Speaker. Utterly without principles.

I think I mis-read the headline – McCarthy is proud of his hand job to Gosar to calm him down?
That would have been a lot more pro-active than anything he actually did. What McCarthy did here is just memorialize something so that he could say that he did something – but he didn’t do squat. A hand job would have at least been an effort to communicate with Gosar. :))
I’m sure McCarthy is well-practiced with Trump. (If we could add pictures to comments I’d put up an old cartoon of Trump at the conference table with guys on either side, obviously getting one. And the caption is one word – Next!) Of course, he’ll have a helluva time convincing Trump he’ll never use THAT hand on him (Trump) again!
