I wonder what it will take for Kari Lake to wake up and smell the coffee. She lost the race for Governor of Arizona, lie about it though she may. Her latest book is not exactly breaking sales records, and now her quest to get on the 2024 GOP ticket as Donald Trump’s running mate is going south. ‘
There are a couple of reasons this is happening: One, Melania doesn’t like Lake hanging around Mar-a-Lago all the time and Trump doesn’t want to have any more blow ups with Melania. He’s still smarting from the Stormy Daniels debacle, and two, Elise Stefanik has the inside track for the job. People:
Lake — a former news anchor who lost her bid for Arizona governor and, like Trump, claimed that the election was rigged against her — spent a significant portion of her time at Mar-a-Lago during its open season, the source tells PEOPLE. (In the summer months, the property generally clears out and even Trump heads to his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.)
“Kari Lake is there all the time,” the source tells PEOPLE. “There’s a suite there that she practically lives in.”
Added to that is a New Abnormal podcast, which basically discussed the same thing.
“Those type of headlines — Trump of course is printed out story after story, he runs through a stack of papers or whatever have you — typically many of these type of stories will go to the wastebin, but stories about Melania Trump, I mean, really get kind of scrutinized because he has to see her,” he explained.
“They meet for dinner or what have you, and Melania Trump and her people are very cognizant of headlines, and, of course, this didn’t really sit well, ” he added before noting Lake has reportedly has dropped to the bottom of Trump’s VP list.
Color me cynical but I think that when Melania has dinner with Trump it’s because it’s in the pre-nupt and not because she really loves spending time with him.
As to Elise Stefanik, there has been chatter for some time that she will be Trump’s running mate. The fact that she has identified as Ultra MAGA and is spearheading the House endeavor to “expunge” Trump’s two impeachments certainly speaks to her loyalty to the cult. Plus, Stefanik has far more experience and brains than either Lake or Marjorie Taylor Greene,
Lake can’t compete against these odds. I give it another couple of months and she’ll be a talking head on Newsmax or RSBN or if she really hits a low bottom, Frankspeech.

Ok, I’m gonna get roasted as being sexist but what I’m going to say is NOT how I think but IS how Trump thinks. Lake was never going to be his running mate. Same with MTG. Or Nikky Haley. And Sarah Sanders can forget about it too. Why? For Trump to put ANY woman on the ticket with him THE prime consideration is that she would have to be not merely nice looking, but “hot.” Serious “babe” material. So he can give MAGAs some wink wink nod nod hints (just like he – and others with trophy wives always do) about “hitting that.” Yeah, I’m being crude but tell me you don’t believe that’s how Trump thinks. At one time wannabe Princess Ivanka might have been his running mate but the two of them are on the outs now. Oh, he’s still obsessed with getting to f**k her. No question about that, but he wouldn’t trust her anymore not to do him in. Speaking of dinners with Melania I’d be amazed if he doesn’t force Barron to be a food taster for any meal he eats with her. He knows she can’t stand him and in the middle of the night when he can always keep truths from popping up in his head has come to the realization she never could. That she was using him every bit as much as he was using her. What really kills him inside is what you mentioned – their pre-nup. At several points she’s had a chance to renegotiate it and I’m willing to bet each time she made out like a bandit. Trump loves to be the winner in every deal and it galls him to have been forced into being the loser in those particular deals!
You’re not the only person who has come up with the idea of Barron as food taster. A comedian who does a blog called The Halfway Post Cafe came up with exactly that a couple of days ago.
Ivanka on the ticket as VP has comic possibilities, especially since she and Melania loathe one another.
