Part of public speaking, stand up comedy, a sales pitch of any kind is that you have to know when you’re going over and when you’ve lost the crowd. That’s called “reading the room.” The most successful entertainers know this. Johnny Carson was legendary for knowing when a joke flopped and immediately doing a self-effacing 180 and getting the audience back on his side. Donald Trump would do well to watch some old Carson reruns and see how the master did it.

Of course, that would presume an awareness on Trump’s part that he was anything short of being totally stellar at all times and forget about that, right? Trump is boring because he’s bored. He’s up there doing the exact same thing over and over again and that’s why the crowds walk out early.

Now this I find heartwarming.

I hope this is accurate and I’m making every effort to follow up on it. The FBI should be concerned about this, everybody should be concerned about this. It is a big deal, one way or the other, whether Trump was nicked by shrapnel or whether a bullet actually got that close to his skull. Trump himself could get rid of any controversy if he would just ask for the ER report to be released but of course that would get rid of the romance of “taking a bullet for democracy.” Getting “nicked by shrapnel for democracy” doesn’t have the same dramatic effect, you see.

It’s good that this is finally getting clarified over a week down the road. But the bullet fable did its job. Trump was able to wear a bandage on his ear, which was then mimicked by people in the crowd at the Republican National Convention, merely proving what a bunch of cultist fools they are.

It’s the same old same old. Trump is being dismissive of Harris because he doesn’t have a way to battle her. He’s still trying to find the right angle. Better find it soon, Donald, it’s a little over 100 days until showtime.

  5. neither Donald Trump nor Biden represent the future. In Trump’s case, he is a stopgap for a clearly articulated Republican strategy to rework every American institution, in some ways, by destroying those institutions. In Biden’s case, he does not look like a candidate who could counter the threats Trump and the Republicans pose to this country.

    Vice President Kamala Harris is the only choice to replace him. That now makes her the leader of the Democrats’ future. The Democratic National Convention is not the time to litigate her ability to take over for Biden. The time to do that was in 2020.

    This election is not a competition between two equally matched candidates with merely competing visions for America. It is a race between a man who intends to be king and the party that stands in his way. The only conversation Democrats should be having with voters at this point is that a second Trump presidency will remake this country as we know it. Biden’s act of political self-sacrifice caps an extraordinary career of public service, including a presidency more productive than others, even some that lasted twice as long. Biden’s announcement also offers a stark contrast between his devotion to the national interest and Donald Trump’s long focus on his own personal interest. With the announcement that he is withdrawing from the race, Biden builds on that legacy — and once more it is less about Washington than about the difference his choice not to run again will make around the country and the world.

    My guess is that because a Democrat is now more likely to win the White House, Russia is less likely to defeat Ukraine and China is less likely to go to war with Taiwan. Women are more likely to be able to get a legal abortion. The Education Department is more likely to survive and so, for that matter, is a healthy American democracy.

        Also, in any photos of Trump with his daughter Ivanka, even at age twelve-fourteen, these photos are on the web, showing him with his hands on her … A creepy sort of guy is totally unworthy to be a president … his history as a pedophile should make him register as a sexual pervert …
