One of the most surprising things coming out of the 800-plus pages in the January 6th Committee’s report is just how much evidence we didn’t know because there wasn’t space to fit it all in during the public hearings. We heard some of the major stuff that would put Trump away, but not all of it. Additionally, we heard a bit about the stuff that might put other people away, but not nearly all of it.

Thus, the great former DOJ prosecutor Henry Littman appeared on MSNBC this morning to tell Jonathan Capehart that he has an idea of what is going on now and will continue for a bit as people find their names in the report. (VIDEO BELOW)

“One of the big takeaways from the report is that the length of the conspiracy beginning even before the election when [Roger] Stone and [Steve] Bannon said, ‘We don’t care, we’re going to say an F-U and we won,’ and going after the election with phony fundraising.”

“The length of it and the breadth of, it’s amazing the numbers of contacts, of fake electors, as you’re saying, there is so much to work with,” he continued. “So that said, I would say there are six, ten, really very-well-suited potential cooperating defendants normally in a setting like this.”

“It’s a race to the prosecutors’ office for them because there is a real advantage to being first,” he elaborated. “This, like so much else with Trump is kind of a unique situation. Will they actually be the ‘et, tu, Rudy?’ person

And for good measure, in my mind, Litman names the one witness with the most to lose and most to gain by cutting a deal. Mark Meadows’s true, full testimony is the gold nugget that could send Trump to prison. He knows everything and has heard every word.

As for the others? It may be too late. The Committee has a lot of evidence. The others would have to bring something unique, something that hasn’t been made public, something that really moves the case. Or they are in a bind.

  1. OF COURSE! What else! The RW Traitor’s failed in their “COUP”, so now the COWARDS want clemency! The “Justice” system in America SUCKS! All these RW traitors, ex-military, RW stupids and/or RW politicians who PARTICIPATED in this TRAVESTY, should end up behind BARS! They are all GUILTY of TREASON!

    • I get being outraged that any of these people would get a deal, much less a sweetheart one. At the same time, I also know that every day we have the same thing going on in courthouses around the country. Criminals turning on their fellow participants in a crime(s) to get themselves a favorable deal. Sometimes what the “cooperators” get is truly stomach turning given their crimes. Enough that the whole “greater good” concept takes a trip through the wood chipper. But that’s how the system works both on the state and federal level. It sucks, but sometimes it’s the best one can do.

  2. Mark Meadows committed clear voter fraud in NC claiming to be a resident at a location he neither lived at or visited. To add salt to the wound, he was running around assisting the big lie about voter fraud. Hey Mr. State attorney General…why do black women like Ms. Willis, have more balls than you rich white men with power. I voted for you Josh Stein. For the last time unless you live up to your oath!

    • Um, because state Attorneys General are NOT generally attorneys of first resort. They’re usually there to defend or prosecute actions involving the state as a whole, not to lead investigations into cases. I’m not a resident of North Carolina but I believe that any case regarding Meadows’ voter fraud would have to be initiated by the District Attorney of the city or county in which he was allegedly registered and voted. (Also, according to North Carolina’s own laws, the state’s Board of Elections would seem to be the agency that would have to initiate or approve the proceedings as they are in charge of state elections and, presumably, voting issues.)

And, out of curiosity, do you really expect Mr Stein to be reading this site or have you written to him (or his office) and expressed your concerns? Or are you just doing what you normally do–ranting and raving about all manners of social injustice while sitting back playing keyboard warrior and expecting someone else to do stuff by reading your mind?

      • U need to read my posts more closely Joe. I’ve called his office numerous times. I’ve called garlands. I’ve called the secret service about their crap. I have hassled burrs office and they had the capital police call Hmm? Ive hassled tillis about the faux impeachment ‘trials’.And so on. I once spent six hours with the FBI in an ‘interview’ years ago and was palm printed. No charges because I had done nothing wrong except piss off the wrong people. Unless you have done the same or MORE…who’s the keyboard warrior. Hmmm? Let me guess.

      • Even so. Given meadows well known actions, do you seriously think Stein doesn’t know the deal? Given the clique of attorneys/prosecutors etc., do you seriously think if he called the local prosecutor that they wouldn’t take his call? That he has NO clout? Get real. How is it poor folks get quickly thrown in jail for voter fraud but it’s OK if a treasonist white man of power skates? Seems you’re always making excuses for injustice due to the ‘system’, which has the word ‘justice’ in it. Sit in jail due to the system of injustice and I bet you’d sing a different tune. In fact, I KNOW you would.

  3. David Frum, whatever one may think of him, stated the coup started when 45 tried to con Zelensky and we had the first impeachment. Repugs own this. All of it. They can’t get rid of 45 because 45 is going to verbally attack them. They want his base!

    • That’s why when the turtle pretends he’s outraged its 100% horseshit. After all he let frump walk TWICE! Oh, and said he’d vote for him again!

      • He still hates Trump, though. McConnell wants to be the majority leader far more so than having a GOP president (any GOP president) if you gave him the choice and he has to see Trump as the person that kept the majority from him and thus toxic to the GOP.
