In today’s Tragedy, American Style, we have four innocent people dead and the crazy shooter, in a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At present, we don’t have the name of the shooter, let alone the motive.
Motives for this kind of thing fall within the general category of extreme angst and alienation. We get that. What we also get is that in other countries people deal with their personal miseries differently than by getting weapons of war and heading out into the streets.
You’ll never convince the gun lobby that the problem is too many guns and easy access to guns. They don’t want to hear that. They want to hear, literally, that demonic influences are taking over peoples’ bodies and making them shoot other people.

The Devil made me do it. Might have been a gag by a comic when you and I were kids, but not any more.
Who will kill whom tomorrow, and where? How many? I hate to be morbid, but this is pretty much the only take that I can have on this when, as stated, it is day 152 of the year 2022, and we have logged in now 233 mass shootings.
A few short years ago — I remember it well — some pundit quipped, “any time now we’ll have the shooting of the day.” It’s no longer a joke. We have surpassed that average in 2022.
By quite a margin, I might add.
We need to save America, we need to save her children in particular, and the only way that we can do that is by getting rid of assault rifles.
Remember how the constitution guarantees “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?” Let’s get back to the life part and work on that. Somewhere down the road we lost out on that one. Bigly.

Make no mistake who is behind this. Every poll I have seen shows a majority of Americans are in favor of common sense gun restrictions, both liberal and conservative, yet Republican legislatures in 7 states have accelerated efforts to ease any restrictions at all since the Texas massacre……why would that be if it isn’t the will of the people unless they are bribed to do so???
Maybe someone should ask Gilbert if the shooter would’ve been “possessed” if he didn’t have access to a gun in the first place. I mean, not even the best marksman or sharpshooter in the world is accurate if they don’t have a gun in their hands.
So, maybe it’s NOT really so much as “demonic possession” as it is “easy access to guns” that’s to blame?
Clearly there exists no rational argument against the right to life as stated in the Declaration of Independence. The corresponding right to liberty includes freedom from loss of life due to the criminal act of murder. And the pursuit of happiness involves being unthreatened in our daily lives by such unreasonable dangers as fellow citizens armed with military-grade weapons at large in our communities.
I just read elsewhere that the Tulsa hospital shooter did have a motive. He was after the doctor who had done his recent surgery for the pain he suffered from that surgery. Well sheeeze, if everyone did that, my husband’s cancer surgeon wouldn’t have been around to do his latest one last week!
We had a ban on assault rifles. The GOP killed it. Thanks to that murder, we now have hundreds of dead children. We need to have it back permanently. Starting right now. The Republican party has blood on their hands, tons of it. The worst ones are the GOP Senators who refuse to do a damned thing about reinstating that ban, passing sensible gun control laws with extensive background checks, or anything else that would help to stop this. The US House passes bills and sends them to the Senate. Thanks a lot to Moscow Mitch and his influence, they die along with the victims of the mass shootings. We need to elect Democrats to every position in the entire country in November. Chase out the GOP. We need donkeys and no more elephants.
They don’t care because it doesn’t affect them directly and they lack both i.pagination and empathy so they cannot put themselves in the place of family members losing g loved phones
Maybe if someone shoots up their expensive Christian or private schools and their spawn is killed, they might (note:might) change their minds
