P.T. Barnum assured us that there’s a sucker born every minute and Donald Trump has pretty much proven that point over the years. What you see above is a pitch to donate money to Trump. For what, you say? He’s not running for president anymore, he’s already in. Silly you. The entire foundation of MAGA is that you need to be financing Trump’s next scheme and in this case it’s tariffs. So how does this work exactly?

It looks like if you want that $2,000 rebate check from tariffs that you have to send donations to Donald. And no, I don’t know what happened to your $5,000 DOGE rebate check, I haven’t seen mine either. But one thing I can say with assurance: Whatever money gets sent to Trump is money gone.
And I’m wondering if somebody is going to challenge the legality of this solicitation. If Trump was able to run again and if he was a declared candidate, that would be one thing. But he isn’t and he’s not, so how can he be soliciting funds from the citizenry? Very good question and I hope we get an answer. I guess the working answer for the moment is that the cult is so used to ponying up money that one more email demanding money isn’t going to seem the least bit odd to them.
Oh yes, the cell phone and the sneakers. How are those working out for everybody?

I am honestly afraid to know how many people have sent Trump money for this. They’d have better odds putting the same money in a slot machine in Vegas.
he’s not saying send me a small sum of money and i’ll send you a much larger tariff rebate, he’s just saying give me some money so i would think that’s legal. unfortunately the other thing that’s legal is the level of stupidity possessed by the people who respond by actually sending him money.
No. To me, he’s saying “If you want a ‘tariff rebate check,’ then send me one of the following ‘donation’ amount.”
THAT IS ILLEGAL.
There’s also the fact he’s NOT sending this to anyone who’s not on whatever list of “donors” he has while that (non-existent) tariff rebate is supposed to go to ALL Americans, regardless of political persuasion.
It says something about the gullibility of his supporters, or ex-supporters, and the irony is they are getting the short end of his economic and health care policies. When they see their health insurance premiums go through the roof in the next couple of months they will be stunned. trump may be facing an impeachment resolution in the House next week. Anything could happen and probably will. I’m thinking full scale collapse of his administration before Christmas. Let’s hope!

It’s possible from legal perspectives, his inability to refrain and uncouple from such entrepreneurial matters could, and may, raise scrutiny from applicable law and judiciary, say, an Emolument Clause. But troublesome and devious income generating behaviour by him seems to expose a gap in established jurisprudential guidelines. He most likely knows where the gaps lie, and so, sees them as fair game for his unethical and borderline entrepreneurial activities used for upping personal financial gain. This greed and its preoccupation surely has to impact on his competencies, abilities and capacities, to effectively function with open transparency, personal honesty and integrity, whilst being in office as POTUS. It’s quite publicly on display he’s cleverly abusing his position of POTUS simply to sucker grift and fleece, by the looks of it.

Truman had a sign on his desk saying ‘The Buck Stops Here’ meaning, of course, the responsibility for something cannot or should not be passed to someone else.
But with Trump, ‘The Buck Stops Here’ has changed to mean no dollar goes past him, all dollars end up in his pocket.
