Please keep in mind that the United States government has a contract to purchase two new Boeing 747s equipped to fly as “Air Force One” on delivery in the next two years (Yes, they are long overdue). Additionally, recall that the United States already operates two 747s as mirror-image Air Force One aircraft available for the president to use at any point. Now on top of that, somehow process that the Qatari government “gifted” a 747 to the United States and Donald J. Trump (To be used by the “Donald Trump library,” once Trump is out of office… cute) and even though this plane is supposed to be a “gift,” the Pentagon is transferring nearly $1 billion to refurbish it as “Air Force One,” work that will likely take two years or leave just one year with Trump in office before the plane is then transferred to the ownership of the “Trump library” which hasn’t even been announced yet except in receipt of an airplane. Finally, do also note that libraries technically don’t need airplanes as they tend to sit on the ground.
Does any of this make any sense to you? Only if you realize that Donald Trump thinks that he’s too good for the current Air Force One crop, and that he deserves to have the American taxpayers send him almost one billion dollars solely to beef up the coolest plane to ever hit the skies – that’s when it all becomes crystal clear according to an article in Rawstory, quoting Jon Lovett of Pod Save America:
News of the donation sparked a political firestorm for Trump. Some experts criticized the gift as a quid pro quo, even though the Pentagon has since said the gift was “unconditional,” according to reports.
“Part of me thinks that we’re talking about this in the wrong way,” Lovett said. “The U.S. didn’t really accept a gift, and the Pentagon isn’t really refurbishing Air Force One. What’s happening is that Donald Trump was given a gift of an airplane, and he’s stealing $1 billion from the government to do a [renovation]. That’s what this is,” he continued.
That is one way to look at it. Another way is to realize that even the United States government doesn’t simply have any old “billion” just sitting around, the money has to come from somewhere in the Pentagon’s budget. This money comes from an account that would otherwise be used to… stabilize the world by securing America’s aging nuclear missile stock.

Same. The billion-dollar heist is truly breathtaking in its simplicity and sweeping in its corrupt base. Donald Trump is doing nothing less than stealing almost one billion dollars to buff out a private plane given to him for being president of the United States – truly, no other president would even want to wade into this level of corruption. But he will.
All I know is that it’s a good thing that the U.S. president doesn’t ordinarily travel around in boats, or we’d have a personalized S.S. Trump in the docks right now. People used to fantasize about being president of the United States; Trump fantasized about the money he could make from the office.

I could not agree more. With a complicit Congress, we really *don’t* have anything to stop him. It makes me angry AF. No guard rails, no watchdogs, nothing. We need to flip seats so badly, and I wish our people would start NOW. Lay out the basics, at least.
