When you look at the sad list of GOP primary presidential candidates that stumbled forward to challenge Traitor Tot in the 2024 primaries, It’s a wonder they could make it out onto the stage without tripping over their own shoelaces.

Just to summarize the ones you might even remember at this point. A former popular GOP Governor from a traditionally blue state who’s real shining moment to run was 2012. A former acolyte who literally pimped his own family in a slavish homage ad to Trump, who couldn’t make an ad without having it qualify for the Emmy’s as the Worst political ad of the year. A former Trump appointed UN Ambassador who walked away with at least some of her integrity intact, and some wacky tech entrepreneur who thought that his entree to the presidency was to plagiarize Barack Obama’s introductory rollout speech in 2007. It’s like Disney created a new animated feature named Nitwits, Inc. Toss in a couple of current or former Governors you can’t name, from states you couldn’t find on a map if the state names weren’t included.

And they all came under immediate criticism and excoriation from the media for the simple reason that none of them would say a word against El Pendejo Presidente. What’s the sense of running against the prohibitive front runner if you don’t try to massacre the prohibitive frontrunner? Instead they all, both in their speeches on the stump, as well as in their ridiculous debate performances, they spent all their time taking school yard cheap shots at each other. Which they may as well have, since Traitor Tot was skipping the debates anyway.

Here’s the McGuffin. Only Nikki Haley got it. She got it in a way that a wizened political veteran like Chris Christie should have. And what she got is that it doesn’t really do you much good to take a shot at a target if the target isn’t there! Christie monolithically went after Trump is all of his stump speeches, as well as his debate performances, and none of Trump’s voters, or much of anybody else, according to the ratings, heard him either.

From day one, Nikki Haley had a monolithic campaign strategy, Make. it. a. two. candidate. race. And that’s what she did. In her stump speeches, she put out her folksy GOP creds and plans, and in the debates, went to war to cull down the herd. Her principle task in the primaries and debates was to clear the field.

And she did it. Not only did she do it, more importantly she did it by the time the field came out of New Hampshire. Even before South Carolina it’s a two person race. And that makes all of the difference, since the Mango Messiah can no longer ignore a single opponent with an active and accredited campaign the way he could sidestep the NASCAR 32 car pile up of the primary debates.

Haley is focused. She’s well staffed, and she has good media managers. And now that she’s literally the last woman standing, she’s getting media time at least equivalent to, if not more than Trump, since most media screens his appearances and rallies for actual newsworthy content.

And she’s making the most of it. She’s hitting Trump where it hurts the most, his obvious dotage. She has spent the last two weeks reminding everybody that Trump is only three years younger than Biden, and playing a montage pf his incoherent, disjointed ramblings in various speeches, then correcting the record. And now she’s about to release a media dump comparing and ridiculing Trump and Biden in a take off from Grumpy Old Men.

Look, I’m not sending any campaign checks to Haley, nor will I. But Haley is the most dangerous political opponent The Cheeto Jesus has ever faced. She is focused, she has legitimate issues, and she has Americans For Prosperity backing her to the hilt. And as long as they do, she has the potential to be a Trump Killer.

Nikki Haley is not going to be the GOP candidate for President in 2024, and therefore isn’t going to be President in 2025. But she can almost ensure that Trump isn’t either. Haley has the agenda. She’s smart enough that she doesn’t give a sh*t about Trump’s base, they’re out of reach. But with every speech she makes, and every media appearance she makes, and every AFP ad she puts out, she keeps hammering away at Trump’s dangerous mental instability.

And she’s not talking to Trump’s slobbering Trombies, she’s talking to that 10-15% of moderate independent and soft GOP and Democratic voters that Trump desperately needs to get over the top. And those just happen to be the same voters who would be most receptive to her message. My hat’s off to her.

  1. I have thought that she’s convincing them that tRump will never be a good option and whenever she drops out, they will vote for Biden or sit out the election.

    • Agreed, Cheryl, and both those options won’t be good for other down-ballot Repugnican candidates either. I suspect that a lot of pissed-off GOP women, who dislike Trump’s style and content, and who are enraged by Roe v Wade’s repeal, will happily support Haley until they have to vote elsewhere. They could well go for Biden, whose record on women’s rights is excellent.
