If Biden Is Smart, He Can Nail The GOP To The Wall Tonight On Ukraine

There is a whole lot that Biden needs to accomplish in the biggest speech of his long political career. He needs to take  credit for the booming economy. He needs to get his due for record first year job growth, and rising wages. And sure as shit needs to take full credit for the fact that 13 months after he took the oath, there are more than 210 million fully vaccinated Americans, and people can actually see each others faces in stores and restaurants. All of these negate GOP talking points for 2022.

But if Biden is as sharp as I think he is, he can use an already existing rift in the GOP to nail them to the wall. I’m talking about Ukraine of course. He has to do a victory lap over his international leadership, repairing the damage done by 4 years of Traitor Tot, and getting NATO back on its feet again. Highlight the US supplying Ukraine with more than a half a billion in lethal and non lethal defensive aid, with more on the way. And of course extoll the Ukrainian people for their incredible David and Goliath stand.

Which finds the Republicans in an awkward position. Pretty much the entire non Trump-Pompeo-FUX News GOP is firmly in Ukraine’s corner. But they have to be careful how they do it, since it’s a sensitive subject for the Mango Messiah. And they sure as shit cannot be seen as supporting anything that Biden wants to do in regards to Ukraine.

Let Biden acknowledge the incredible bravery and courage of the Ukrainians, the GOP caucus can stand and cheer as well to show a unified US but Biden is also planning on laying out additional steps that he is planning to take in regards to Ukraine government. Go ahead and lay those steps out, but rather than waiting for applause, from which there will be none from the GOP side, plow forward with something like, At this critical hour in history, and in this venue, I believe that the American people, along with the rest of the world, know which members of the congress are ready to unite with the administration to continue Ukraine’s resistance, and which ones don’t. 

And then just stand there at the podium, while every Democrat in the chamber surges to their feet, applauding, stomping their feet, and whistling, and let the camera scan over the GOP side of the room to see just how many real patriots there are on the GOP side of the aisle. And they’re not going to have time to think. They’re going to have to react, decide, and make their decision. And then they’re stuck with it forever, since the camera knows all and sees all.

Look, the Ukraine invasion is going to be a factor in the 2022 midterms. Hell, it might not even be over by then, depending on how things go. If Biden is willing to use a little verbal sleight-of-hand in this speech, he can force the GOP caucus to either rise to their feet in support of his administration on behalf of Ukraine, or look like the Grinches who stole Christmas. Ad spots are dying to be written.
