Hold Onto Your Hat Michael Bloomberg Just Registered As A Democrat There’s Talk Of 2020 Run

Maybe Michael Bloomberg is having an identity crisis or something. He used to be a Democrat, then he became a Republican, and apparently he’s had a come to Jesus moment and realized the error of his ways, and he’s back. He posted this on Instagram this morning.

“At key points in U.S. history, one of the two parties has served as a bulwark against those who threaten our Constitution. Two years ago at the Democratic Convention, I warned of those threats. Today, I have re-registered as a Democrat – I had been a member for most of my life – because we need Democrats to provide the checks and balance our nation so badly needs.”

I give him credit for recognizing the obvious, which is that the constitution is threatened and if anybody’s going to do anything to preserve it, it’s going to be the Democrats.  Virtually everything the Trump administration does on any given day augments or foments some kind of a constitutional crisis. And bear in mind that Brett Kavanaugh is now on the Supreme Court and expected by many to rule against Gamble v. United States, a case which addresses whether the dual sovereignty doctrine should be put to rest, disallowing federal and state courts to both prosecute someone for the same offense. If that would be the case, a lot of Trump’s criminal cronies would be let off the hook. Many have speculated that’s why Kavanaugh was chosen in the first place, to rule precisely on that case, and to pursue the agenda established in other rulings of his, which is to put governmental power over the power of the individual, and to elevate presidential power to the level of autocrat.

Now here’s what’s in Bloomberg’s Instagram feed:

“You have my vote in 2020”

“run, please run. the country needs the kind of leadership you can provide.”

“Thank God”

“Congratulations. Also, you have my vote and if you need any volunteering, you have me too.”

This one was my favorite:

“Thank you. I hope you can keep the left from being too extreme while you are here.”

He just registered and now he’s going to run the party? HA! Oh, my ears and whiskers, that’s a good one.

Now here’s what a few obvious Democrats chimed in:

“Political opportunism at its finest!”

“keep dreaming moron”

“I run because the republicans are tearing up the constitution, I’ve warned you about it, so me become president for checks and balances”. What a silly message to justify why you run

Apparently there’s some perception that the Democratic nomination is a total free for all and up for grabs to anybody. Now I give tacit approval to Michael Avenatti doing what he’s doing, because he is the n’est plus ultra Trump troll. We need him in that capacity. I’ve never advocated him for anything more, and hopefully when the rubber meets the road and we’re getting serious about the primary, he won’t run as an Independent and in doing so splinter off Democratic votes and hand the election to Trump. I don’t think he will because the man is not stupid and he wants Trump out. Along those lines, I say troll away Mr. Avenatti, keep the hits a’comin’. You’re doing the good work.

With respect to Bloomberg, I’m speechless, quite frankly. He hasn’t said he’s considering a presidential run, only that he’s registering as a Democrat to help us save the constitution. So I guess that means he’s not going to run as an Independent. Evan McMullin got less than 500,000 votes when he ran, I don’t know if Bloomberg would fare much better, honestly.

It’s going to take a while to wrap my paws around this one.

  1. I like Michael Bloomberg well enough, but the last thing we need in this era of unprecedented economic disparity is a presidential election between a multi-billionaire and another alleged billionaire.
