The battle lines are being drawn for the manufactured reality TV crisis in Los Angeles. The director of this madcap farce, Donald Trump, is framing it as “law and order” v. “illegal criminals.” The reality of the situation is that peaceful protests of Trump’s draconian ICE policies have been taking place in the City of Angels, and local officials had the situation in hand. But that wasn’t good enough for his nibs. No, he and Pete Hegseth decided to override the mayor of Los Angeles and the governor of California and escalate the situation out of all proportion so that they could make a reality TV spectacle out of it, and link that to the spectacle in Washington, D.C. when the big parade commemorating Trump’s birthday happens this weekend. To that end, Trump called out the National Guard (who have since slept on the floor, because he didn’t make housing arrangements for them) and Hegseth called out the Marines. And Newsom responded accordingly.
NEW: I just filed an emergency motion to block Trump’s illegal deployment of Marines and National Guard in Los Angeles.
Trump is turning the U.S. military against American citizens.
The courts must immediately block these illegal actions. pic.twitter.com/ms4JELUk3v

That is a first, ladies and gentlemen. Mark it well. This is an historic moment in jurisprudence. The Governor of California has not had cause to sue the President of the United States nor the Secretary of Defense prior to the two klown kandidates getting into those offices this year.
Now here is the latest deveopment as of Tuesday night: Pete Hegseth lied under oath to the House Defense Appropriations Committee.
So Hegseth lied under oath today. Marine infantry units aren’t trained for this. pic.twitter.com/yoS2A78dU0

Hegseth will lie for Trump. Hegseth will undoubtedly do for Trump what Mark Esper would not, which is to open fire on civilians. We don’t know that yet, because it hasn’t happened, but do not be surprised when and if it does happen. And one man who will not be surprised is Gavin Newsom. He called Hegseth out today.
.@GavinNewsom: "Pete Hegseth's a joke. He's a joke. Everybody knows he's so in over his head. What an embarrassment. That guy's weakness masquerading as strength." pic.twitter.com/elTjSFY0Js

Hegseth is a complete joke. And nobody knows it more than Hegseth does. That’s the awful truth of this situation. Hegseth had reached the apex of his talents as a part-time weekend host at Fox News. Then the Peter Principle kicked in (no, I don’t know if God intended the pun) and Hegseth was promoted to a job which was the level of his incompetence, namely Secretary of Defense. He has as much business being Secretary of Defense as penguins have wandering up and down the Vegas strip in July, but I digress. Here is Kristi Noem dragging our democracy down yet another step.
It is a disgrace that the Department of Defense continues to post partisan political messages on social media and a disgrace that the DHS Secretary is making political statements about elections from the Oval Office. They piss on this country’s traditions daily. https://t.co/6KexYcnYXK

You notice how at the end Donald began to recite his memorized talking point about the train in California. He’s got that talking point and the autopen talking point and three or four others that he’s programmed to recite — no matter what else is going on. This is his idea of “leadership.”
Meanwhile, Trump is handling Gavin Newsom millions of dollars in free publicity and elevating his national profile. Trump may be catapulting Newsom into the White House in 2028. If I had to make a guess today about the outcome of the 2028 election, this is how I would be calling it.
Trump may think that he’s accomplishing the dead opposite, that he’s ruining Newsom. No. That’s not what’s happening. If Newsom ends up matched with J.D. Vance, Newsom will clobber him. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, shall we? Let’s stay focused on demonstrations this Trump birthday weekend.
And do not minimize the importance of the Newsom/Hegseth spat. It will be ongoing and it will be intense. Hegseth is totally in the wrong and he knows it. Hegseth is also unstable enough to keep doubling and tripling down no matter how wrong he is. That’s because when you’re as out of your league as Hegseth is, drama is your only constant. Newsom is in the right and he’s handling this situation brilliantly so far. This is going to be a match for the ages.

Zoomers, thank you for all your help. I’m passing the hat and if you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

We will never be safe until those fuckers are dead!
Too bad we couldn’t hire Ray from the fantastic Australian series from 2018-2021, Mr. InBetween. He’d get a lot of work cleaning out the rat’s nest in the white house.
Kegsbreath didn’t lie. The troops HAVE been trained for what he expects them to be doing. They are a war machine and he (and felon) have declared war on LA and the rest of the country that doesn’t kiss the ring. He will order them to fire live rounds into any and all crowds that do not fully comply with felon’s dictatorial commands.
