I guess this is it for the next 23 months. Strap in tight. Lay in a supply of popcorn and Valium. Donald Trump appears to be able to go for five or six hours a day without launching another neurosis bomb into the ethernet, and that’s about it.
Zero policy, plenty of piffle and loads, we mean loads, of self pity and bombast.
Here’s the rage-a-holic’s latest. And I thought turkey was supposed to chill people out, melatonin and all that.
Translating this is simple. Trump needs to believe that he’s still on top and still running the GOP, and not on the verge of having a U.S. Marshal show up on his doorstep, or federal agents, to take him downtown.
Say, Donald: do you know if Marjorie Post put any secret tunnels or hidden passageways in Mar-a-Lago when it was built? You might want to check that out. Of course, she wasn’t worried about having to run from the bogeyman in the middle of the night, like you are.
Maybe you ought to go back to New York and hide out at Trump Tower. You can have the Fire Department build one of those poles, and you can slide down it to the McDonald’s in the lobby and run away from there if you need to. Maybe jump into the back of a garbage truck. Now, there’s a plan.
And of course, Trump wouldn’t be thinking any of these thoughts if it wasn’t for Mike Pence. 
This translates as: “We had it all right there in our hands. The fake electors were chosen, Clarence Thomas was going along with it all, and all Pence had to do was throw the dice. What’s the worst that could have happened? He goes down in history as the worst traitor since Benedict Arnold? So what?”
My sense of things is that Trump has done nothing but ponder that particular why, why Pence wouldn’t throw in and join the conspiracy, and will do nothing but ponder it the rest of his days.
That’s simple. SAVE ME! L’etat et moi.

How TF does he figure he won that many in the midterms? Most of the candidates he backed lost.
Most of the candidates he backed were from safely red districts. The ones he lost were the big ones.
Watching him come unglued reminded me of Humphrey Bogart in Treasure of the Sierra Madre. He starts off as an American down on his luck in Mexico. He shares his lottery ticket winnings with his fellow American to join up with an old prospector to find gold. You have sympathy for him and even hope they strike it rich. They do. Then greed and paranoia start working on his soul. Eventually he attempts to murder his partner, despite his partner doing everything he can to bring him back to being rational and reasonable. When he can’t find him after the attempt, his mental state deteriorates and eventually it leads to his self destruction. The only difference is Dobbs had a conscience that ate at him. Trump doesn’t have one, but the losses and threats loom over him, and like Dobbs he can’t run nor hide. This is a slow motion tragedy due to his wrong values, wrong choices, and the supreme hubris of a narcissist. It will end badly. Dobbs was alone in a dangerous country and his greed got him killed. Trump is alone with his greed for money, power, and attention. Nothing last forever. Neither will he. It’s only a matter of how, when, and where.
What makes this especially fascinating is that this is happening within a political context. Politics is known for yes people, hangers on who hitch their wagons to somebody else’s star. In this case, Trump is a star going nova and he’s blowing up a lot of people along with himself. Not to mention what he’s doing to the GOP. And I have zero sympathy for them.
We all predicted from the get go that the GOP would come to rue backing Trump. Now that is coming true. They did it to themselves and the smart ones know it.
That’s weird Ursula. I have the same amount of sympathy for them.
I doubt if he’s going nova – more a white dwarf that is going to collapse into a singularity and suck all his apologists into the resultant black hole

France’s Sun King, Louis XIV, supposedly said, “I am the state” (“L’etat c’est moi”) to make it extremely clear that he and he alone ruled the nation.

But it then occurred to me that you were perhaps rewriting the quote to fit Trump. What you wrote, “L’etat et moi,” means “The state and me.” Is that what you meant? “SAVE ME! The state and me”?
To me, I think Pence is an ahole for kissing up to Trump after he literally put a hit on him. Then I got to thinking he might be going under the assumption that if he doesn’t kiss big daddy’s ass he will send a crew by to finish the job. Self preservation and all that. And I still think the punk should have testified. That line about Congress doesn’t need to know about the president is bullshit. Has he actually ever read the constitution. Maybe mother hasn’t authorized that document for the clown to read. Congress makes the rules and needs oversight of the other two branches. They need to work on the judicial side asap. With the morons taking over the house that’s not going to happen.
And you are right about the gop. They kissed the ring themselves. The one thing I’m looking for is that I’m thinking a small group is going to splinter off and work with the Democrats. They are going to realize that chasing their tails investigating where Hunter waved his Johnson is going to flame out quick and the idiots aren’t going to have anything to work on after that. Besides there’s the other issue. Jordan and McCarthy and I’m sure a few more deserving souls might get the attention of the DOJ for their roles in the uprising. I seen somewhere that someone said Jordan needs to find his suit and start wearing it. Just a thought.
