You’ve probably seen all of these clips before, separately, but cut together they paint quite the picture of the First *Family* at least the First Couple. Frankly, if I had a marriage like this, I would prefer to be exiled to a desert island by myself. It would be a lot more cozy and loving. But then again, in all fairness, it’s not like Melania is even going through the motions of pretending that she’s still with Donald. That’s pretty clear this second time out. America has no First Lady now. We have a titular one (no pun intended) but in terms of the real thing, Melania shows up for an occasional photo op and that’s it.

It’s a tragedy that we have these buffoons in the People’s House. Trump can’t do his job and Melania isn’t even bothering to try and fake it during Trump 2.0. She did her canned speech the other day on foster children, which hooks in more or less with her #BeBest bullshit from Trump 1.0. But she has no intention of even pretending this time out and actually that’s probably for the best.
Melania’s totally in over her head in the area of public service. There is nothing in her background or life experience to give her any concept of it. Other first ladies have been through the routine of being senator’s wives, governor’s wives, they’ve learned the ropes from the ground up and they have instincts for these things.
Melania is a former men’s magazine and soft core porn model. She knows the world of dress up and looking ornamental. That’s it. And to force her into the world spotlight as a First Lady is in many ways a cruel thing.
It’s not a cruel thing that we, the people, did. It’s a cruel thing that her husband did. And he persists with his cruelty with the fantasy of Melania being fluent in five languages, a meme that he repeated just the other day. And then there’s that fool congressman who wants to expand on this idiocy by naming the opera house at the Kennedy Center after Melania.
Let her look good and spend money. That’s what she’s cut out for. That’s the skills set. And America will welcome whomever its next First Lady is. No matter who she is and what she does, she will be a vast improvement on the half vast Melania.
Do you blame her? I have no doubt he probably abuses or dominates her in private and then they should hold hands in public? I know it’s what she signed up for, but still I have a little empathy.
I don’t think so, I suspect that Melania would tear his cojones off and make him eat them if he raised a hand to her. And dominate her psychologically or emotionally? Not a chance: she doesn’t give a rat’s ass about him, loathes him in fact, so he has no power over her at all.
My sense of the situation coincides with yours, Jarvis. I don’t see Poor Little Melania the Victim. I think she’s a real bitch and opportunist and equal to Trump in that regard. She doesn’t take shit from anybody and I suspect she dishes it out — just not in five languages. :))
Trump’s been with Trophy Wife #3 aka Melania far longer than intended. Had he not chosen to run for President their ten year (give or take) contact would have been up, she’d have collected her final ‘bigly lump sum’ payout and have a condo in some Trump bldg. in NYC and a small estate in the Hampton’s. We all know the reports of her crying on election night because Trump ‘won’ are true. She thought her servitude was over and at a time when she was still young enough to have plenty of discreet fun.
She was involved with Trump for some years before becoming a formal Trophy Wife too. While he wasn’t a young man even then, Trump also wasn’t the feeble and falling to pieces physical wreck he is now. There was a time when he was still physically more powerful and capable of beating Melania. Or worse. I have no doubt that happened sometimes.
However as you say it’s a different story now and has been for probably more years than we have realized. If he were to try and smack her around in recent years she’d grab him by his tiny balls and start slapping the orange off his ugly face. At least until the Secret Service came in the room to break it up.
She’s doing all she can to monetize her role as Trump’s wife. Call me mean but I really hope she overplays her hand and his financial house of cards collapses before she can collect the really big payout she’s expecting.
I don’t get the impression he abuses her. I get the impression she could ruin him if she opened her mouth and he knows it. Melania is like Trump. She’s no wilting flower. She’s a user and a manipulator in her own right. They’re a match made in Hell, truly.
