Well, you knew it was going to be a circus, right? Marge Greene was the big winner today and that shouldn’t cause you to bat an eyelash either. She got plum assignments on both the House Oversight Committee and the Homeland Security Committee.
I’ve always worried about fascism coming to America. In this case it appears to be kakistocracy, government by the least qualified and least intelligent members of a society.
You’ve got to hand it to the animal kingdom, they don’t have the stupidest animal lead the pack. People do.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who was removed from committee assignments in the last Congress for her racist and antisemitic conspiracy theories as well as her encouragement of violence against Democrats, has a spot on the Homeland Security Committee. Such spots are usually filled by those with experience in either the military or intelligence, neither of which she has. And security is an odd fit for her: voters in her district tried to get her disqualified from running in 2022 because of her participation in the attempt to overthrow the results of the 2020 election.
Greene has not just that plum assignment, but another on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. That committee manages investigations and has emerged as a coveted spot for the far right as its members prepare to go after figures in the Biden administration. It now includes right-wing figures Greene, Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Scott Perry (R-PA), Byron Donalds (R-FL), and Gary Palmer (R-AL), all of whom refused to acknowledge President Joe Biden’s 2020 election.
Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ), who was removed from committees two years ago after threatening Democratic lawmakers on social media, is now back on the Natural Resources committee. He also is now on the Oversight Committee.
Mark this day well. You will harken back to it in days to come. This is not only political theater, this is going to be political blockbuster. Kevin McCarthy will go down in history as the James Cameron of spectacle in Washington.

Of course, Kevin may find out in 2024, when he doesn’t have the gavel anymore because of stupid, short-sighted decisions he is making today.
So two years after these people helped foment an insurrection that caused injury, death and destruction, they’re not only walking free, they’re now in powerful positions in government. I just can’t wrap my head around how f***ed up this is. Let’s hope the next two years go by as quickly and that they’re as unproductive in achieving their goals as it seems the DOJ has been for the last two years.
Any other country, and we’d be calling it fascism every time out. Most people know the Holocaust happened and what fascism leads to. They may not realize the incremental way it rose to power in Germany. As the Chamber Brothers sang, “there are things to be realized.”
They know. Fascism is what they prefer because their toxic religion requires it to be propped up.
