Let history record that there was a time in our republic when mentally unstable people began showing up as legislators in our House and Senate. This happened due to the fact that a bat$hit crazy man, a reality TV actor, managed to get elected our president. George Santos is not the most stable fishing rod in the hardware store at the best of times, but he is succumbing to stress, bigly. Hit this link to TMZ to see the full video of what went on in the hallway of the House today, when Santos totally lost it over a person whom he deemed “human scum” and a Palestinian “terrorist.” Me thinks he’s displacing aggression here. Meanwhile, here’s a glimpse of what this looked like. This hissy fit was the backdrop to Jim Jordan’s second vote towards becoming House Speaker. 13 more to go?

Now it won’t surprise you that some people on Twitter, hearing Santos melt down, wondered if the “animal” he “wanted out of here” was Jordan. Damn. We hope not. Things are plenty hostile in the GOP conference but not quite this berserk. Axios:

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) won the GOP nomination for speaker in an internal vote on Friday, the second Republican to win the speaker nomination in the past three days.

Why it matters: Republicans are on day 10 of not having a speaker, and Jordan faces an uphill climb in getting the 217 votes needed to secure the gavel amid strong tensions within the highly fractured conference.

  • Jordan defeated new challenger Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.), who entered the race on Friday, by a vote of 124-81, according to two lawmakers in the room.
  • Jordan — a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus — was first elected to the House in 2006, later serving as Republican Study Committee chairman.
  • He was previously seen as a thorn in leadership’s side, having played a role in former Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) exit from Congress and having run against former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) in the race for House minority leader in 2018. He later forged a strong working relationship with McCarthy.

Zoom in: Jordan has been one of former President Trump’s most vocal allies and defenders in Congress, playing a leading role in defending him during Democrats impeachment inquiries.

  • He was nominated by Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.), the chairman of the moderate Republican Main Street Coalition, in an effort to sway moderates.

The intrigue: Jordan is struggling to garner the support of moderates and Scalise allies within the conference.

I don’t see him gaining moderate support. We’ve already been through this. Jordan is far-right and nobody trusts him. The moderate Speaker candidate is Austin Scott.

He’s right, they do look like a bunch of idiots. Well, now it’s down to the Molester Protector and the Obscure But Recognizable Old School Republican. I’m waiting for Donald Trump to chime in and trash Congressman Scott. That’s his style and the timing is right.

And keep an eye out for when George Santos is either put in a strait jacket or carted out on a stretcher. We are in major weird mode right now. Friday the 13th indeed.

Back to a bit more Santos.

“Not yet?” What, he’s buying the kid off the white slave market but his credit card bounced? I mean, this is getting too far out there for even Santos.

If only Santos and Boebert are gone in 2025, that will be the beginning of a massive House cleaning, right there. Let us do everything in our power to make that happen.
