Yes, it’s that time of year again, time for Americans and Canadians to put all timepieces forward an hour. Europeans will follow on March 29, while most of Australia and all of New Zealand put their clocks back an hour on April 5.

The Furkids decided to reprise the classic song by Peter, Paul and Mary as your 2026 reminder. They feel this song is even more appropriate this year because, 62 years after its release, its lyrics evoke the times we’re living through under the ravages of the Trumple regime. Yet it is a song of foretelling, not of foreboding. It tells us to be strong as we navigate the overthrow of a dark regime to emerge into the light.

It is apposite, the Furkids tell me, because they too foretell a future, a near future in which good people come together to build a stronger, more progressive and resilient United States that works for the betterment of all its people and embraces its allies in genuine fellowship and mindfulness that supports the planet.

It’s a lot to ask of lyrical illustrations but the Furkids came up with their own idiosyncratic solutions for illustrating time, sometimes novel (eg present = gift) and always literal (eg present = gift).

The jukebox has been retro’d to 1964 and loaded with old nickels, so just press play, scroll down to the lyrics and sing along!

Loula goes back to the vet this Friday, and we’re still saving up for it. All proceeds from ko-fi.com/furkids will go towards the bill. We’re very grateful not only to all our generous contributors but also to all kind well-wishers.
From the Furkids with loads of purrs and kitty kisses. 💝 💖 💝
