The Furkids and I weren’t aware of the official name of this song until we went looking for it. We just know it as Feeling Groovy and that’s the feeling they wanted for this weekend.
It was actually their Auntie Marti – aka MarTiger – who gets the credit for this one. She mentioned ‘groovy’ in a recent tweet and I asked the Furkids team if they knew the word. The older ones remembered it – the elephants in particular as they started swaying in time to the music captured in their memories. Then, as so often happens on these occasions, all the young ones, who loved the sound of the word – wanted to hear the song their neliphants remembered. It was love at first listen!

For decades that’s been a song I’ve played in my head when things have gotten out of control. Or I’m down. I won’t say it’s always done the trick but it has actually helped plenty of times. The reminder to slow down, and just try to focus on some simple, everyday thing(s) can work wonders and trust me folks, this little tune is a really good way to help do just that.
Yes! I find it has the same effect on me most times too. But I’d forgotten about it until I was reminded by MarTiger last week. She didn’t mention the song, just the word “groovy” and that was enough! I straightaway went to look for the song to load it onto the jukebox for this weekend!
