The Furkids know about the seasons, but they’re beastly careless about what month it is… usually. But this week they heard it was September. “It’s September!” they told me excitedly, “We can do the September song!”

I could’ve tried explaining again that the song isn’t actually about the month of September so much as… well… let’s just say they found that viewpoint distinctly confusing. I was hit with a barrage of, “But it says September… it’s in the song… lots of times!” I can’t argue with that.

As it turns out, what really resonates with them in the lyrics is waiting for someone you love to come home. My Loula complained that the waiting can feel like months and months to her – even though I know for a fact that she sleeps most of the time when I’m out for an hour or two!

But, not only is it September and when I glance out of the window, it looks like rain, but we’re also all big fans of Carole King. The omens are clear: it’s time for the September song!

By the way, when I asked where they’d found coins for the jukebox this week, a duck solemnly told me they’d been saving up for a rainy day. Then they all descended into giggles, chuckles and outright laughter. That’s as much as I got out of them about the coins this week.

Regardless of whatever nefarious deeds they committed in the pursuit of coins, the good news is the jukebox is primed and ready to go. Just press play then scroll down to the lyrics and sing along with Carole!

Furkids love the frothy milkshakes at ko-fi.com/furkids. They want you to know they love licking up their frothy moustaches. You can treat them to their favourite frothies for $3/€3/£3. All proceeds go towards Loula’s healthcare (her annual vaccination has been delayed until this month because other pressing bills and life’s little chicanes pushed it forward – I’m hoping to get an appointment for this week) — our heartfelt thanks to all contributors. 💝 💖 💝

  1. I love the CODA, but I almost never wait for rain to end! Well, light rain, not hurricanes! Going out and getting wet is an amazing release…and it makes bystanders wonder about your mental health! That’s OK with me ’cause I’m the one enjoying life instead of cowering under an awning! 🌧🥰
