At this time of deep uncertainty and anxiety, the Furkids are very aware that many of their hoomin friends are suffering the emotionally draining effects and would like nothing more than to escape to a safe place. Grandnanny Elliphant said it brought to mind a similarly fraught period for Ringo Starr.
In 1968, during a cruise around Sardinia aboard actor-comedian Peter Sellers’ 18-meter (59-foot) motor yacht Amelfis, Ringo was inspired by the captain’s story about how octopuses roam the seabed picking up stones and shiny objects to build gardens. Back in London, during tense sessions recording The Beatles’ “White Album”, Ringo recalled, “I just wanted to be under the sea, too”.
The Furkids understand. They chose Ringo Starr’s “Octopus’s Garden” as a musical escape to an emotionally safe place.
The jukebox has been dialled back to 1968 and filled with British sixpences. Just press play, scroll down to the illustrated lyrics and lose yourself in the charm of Ringo’s underwater daydream.

Thank you to everyone who bought the Furkids a frothy kofi this week – they love licking their creamy moustaches!
Loula has befriended a stray we’ve named Noushi (rhymes with bushy), and we’ve been feeding her inside for a couple of months now. She’s still wary and won’t let me get close to her, but would eat while I was in the room. On Friday, she suffered damage to her jaw. All proceeds from ko-fi.com/furkids will go towards seeking medical assistance for her. Loula thanks you and sends loads of purrs, snuggles and kitty kisses to all.
