Summer is over in the Northern Hemisphere and so are the Summer holidays. A new school year has begun and it’s an exciting time because there are so many fascinating things to learn!

The cats took over the column this week to show that school is really cool, especially when you’re learning about them!

Sidenote: To our followers on the birdee app, we can explain our absence – our hoomin Michelle was in Xtwit jail for two whole weeks! We don’t know what she did but we’re happy to say that our legal eagles were able to free her at last!

Furkids love the frothy milkshakes at ko-fi.com/furkids. They want you to know they love licking up their frothy moustaches. You can treat them to their favourite frothies for $3/€3/£3. All proceeds go towards Loula’s healthcare — our heartfelt thanks to all contributors. 💝 💖 💝

    • The Furkids send their favourite Aunty Barbara and the clowder the biggest of kitty cuddles and loads of kitty kisses! 🤗💕💖💕🤗Barbara and the clowder🤗💕💖💕🤗

  1. I have only met one polydactyl cat in my life. She might have wondered why all the hoomins were always counting her paw buttons, but she never turned down the attention! 😻 In her honor, gonna send some frothy tuna shakes…mmm, lick! 🍧

    • Loula has a tiny thumb on her left paw, bless her. I’ll tell her the frothy tuna shake is for her! Thank you so much, Cleora. it makes a real difference to both of us and we’re very appreciative. 🤗💖🤗

  2. Cats were revered in ancient Egypt because they protected stores of grain from rodent infestation. Even today, many warehouses and plant nurseries employ “working cats.” Their mere presence seems to drive rodents away. I hope the kitties are generously compensated for their work!

    • And then those brilliant Egyptian cats/gods implemented their evolutionary long game to get inside the house and stay there…be cute, be cuddly, purr lovingly. Hoomins are such suckers for that that we allow cats to still lord over us!! Good plan!! 😺

    • My Grandfather was Director and Wharf Manager of the Flinders Island Shipping Company in Tasmania. He employed a cat he called Blondie in the warehouse on the wharf where he also had an office. He also employed her first litter before she was spayed. He adored that cat!

  3. somewhere amongst my stored crap I have a picture of me with the last of the cats who actually knew Hemingway, taken in the mid-seventies. probably next to the picture of Jagger sticking his tongue out at me…

  4. This is genius, Mopsy. And I LOVE that photo of the “cat house.” Any more photos of that? That’s my dream house. And it could purr when the heat goes on (or the A/C) and you could have green lights where the eyes are.

    I hope Loula is well.
