Affirmation is an iconic song by Australian duo, Savage Garden. The Furkids did make some changes to the lyrics (hands are hoomin and nobody’s getting burned on their watch!). However, they all approve of the essential essence of the song – they especially like the lines about love and karma and their spirit furriends – and they really love the music.

It was also time for them to farewell furriends who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. They are missed, they will always be loved, we will meet again.

The jukebox is primed with Aussie coins so press play when you’re ready, then scroll down to the lyrics and hum or sing along.

* When Mark (@map) and his wife bought their new home, already in residence was Rosie and four of her grown children from two litters. Pictured in the “argument and make-up” images are brothers Hoovie (dark) and Cookie (seal-point). Mark has added at least two more rescues to their clowder because you can never have too many cats when you have a large enough property.

* At a Thailand zoo, trainers taught Dodo – a two-year-old, male chimpanzee – to bottle feed tiger cubs. When feeding time is over, the two get to play together.

* I chose the family photo of Rosie with Lilo and Finni (short for Infinity) because Rosie’s story is an extraordinary one. I recommend watching it on YouTube.

* The Spirit God depicted here is Ceiling Cat. I do not know the origin story of Ceiling Cat and nor do I know who created this image of her. We wish to acknowledge the creator whomever it may be.

* Dr Allison Gill – Boobah’s devoted servant and pack member – is perhaps best known as @MuellerSheWrote on Twitter. Of the three podcasts she hosts, the Furkids’ favourite is Daily Beans. Last Friday, Allison told listeners about the moving story of Boobah’s passing. It begins at 36:30 on Ep: “Curating History” July 29 Daily Beans at Apple Podcasts.

The Furkids borrowed Allison’s sign-off this week:

Finally, the Furkids asked me to remind you that they love you all. 💖💕💖💕💖

  1. Wonderful, Mopsy. One of your best. Although my all time favorite piece of yours is Two Different Worlds. That’s a classic. You need to republish that at some point, maybe for New Year’s Eve.

I love the horse wrapping his leg around the young woman. A friend sent me that photo years ago. I had an overweight gelding named Scotty at one point in my life. Horses are great. I can’t ride anymore because of my hip but I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to ride when I did.

    • Though this one took many hours to put together, it was a labour of love.

I used to ride when I was younger. Never had a horse of my own but took the opportunity to ride whenever I could.

I will definitely be republishing Two Different Worlds. It’s one of my favourites too.

  2. {{{Michelle}}} The Furkids always have the best lyrics. And you always have the best pictures illustrating them. Skritches & {{{HUGS}}} as appropriate & Healing Energy to everybody.

  3. All your furkids diaries are good, but this one is spectacular. I loved all of it. Thanks for finding music with such thoughtful words, for your great and appropriate images, for all of it. Super job, Mopsy.
