The Furkids take pride in the diversity of their musical tastes. By way of demonstrating their range, they decided to dip their hooves and furry toe beans into a little light opera this week.
The aria they’ve chosen is Barcarolle from “The Tales of Hoffmann” by Jacques Offenbach. The origin of the barcarolle is the Italian barcarola (from barca meaning ‘boat’), a traditional romantic ballad sung by Venetian gondoliers.
In our jukebox selection, the duet is sung in French by Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča (left) and Russian soprano Anna Netrebko (right) during a rehearsal in Germany. The Furkids also pride themselves on their internationality!
The orchestral introduction is almost a minute long, so I recommend watching the video while they play. When Elīna begins to sing, that will be your cue to begin scrolling through the illustrated lyrics as you sing along to the furkids’ best English translation. Enjoy!

Furkids love the frothy milk at ko-fi.com/furkids. They want you to know they love licking up their frothy moustaches. You can treat them to their favourite frothies for $3/€3/£3. All proceeds go towards Loula’s healthcare, with our heartfelt gratitude to all contributors.
You can now follow them at Blue Sky: @thefurkids.bsky.social
and Michelle too: @michelleelle.bsky.social
The Furkids are excited that, in addition to their very own account on Blue Sky, they now have their own banner! The inspiring words are by their Aunty Kay (@Kay Coop at Creative Sprints*) and the design by their own Michelle Elle.

*Creative Sprints – The Furkids’ Aunt Sarah and Aunt Sebastiene host Community Sprints every day of the week. This is where much of the work for Furkids is done. Everyone with something on a to-do list is welcome, though you must be subscribed to the channel for at least 24 hours before joining the chat. There’s an open invitation for all Furkids followers to join the Sprints community!

LOVELY! TY
