The view from this December is that it’s been an up-and-down kind of year, better than the last four years but not quite as good as we’d hoped. The Furkids are therefore determined that, if they have anything to do with it, everyone is going to be finishing the year on an up!

With this in mind, they’ve planned a number of special episodes with an inspirational theme. In addition to the four Sundays, there will be a Christmas Day edition and “The Twelve Days Before The Twelve Days of Christmas” special, beginning Dec 13.

This week they turned to Ceiling Cat for inspiration. No one knows where the concept of Ceiling Cat actually originated but it is very firmly entrenched in their furkid traditions. She is the goddess of the sky – the sky being the ceiling of the world – and she watches over them. (Actually, it’s quite disturbing to them to think about her being able to see everything they do so they try not to think about that… at all… especially when they’re doing something mischievous in which case they weren’t there anyway).

They tell me that “From A Distance” is a song about Ceiling Cat reminding us all what is really important in Life. They added that, while they love Bette Middler, she didn’t quite get all the words right so they’ve made the necessary adjustments to the lyrics.

The jukebox is ready so just press play, scroll down to the lyrics and sing along!

  1. {{{Michelle}}} Thank you. Bless you. This song is beautiful. And sad. What it looks like from a distance. What we see close at hand. sigh.

    Bless you doubly for the 12 days before the 12 days of Christmas. It’s so very much work I wasn’t going to ask. . . I am so very looking forward to it. Skitches to Ms. Loula. Healing Energy & moar {{{HUGS}}} to you.

    • I only just decided to do the 12 days before the 12 days of Christmas this weekend so I don’t have time to create a new one from scratch. Will therefore be recycling from previous years. I figure that since such a lot of work went into them, they deserve another outing! I hope you enjoy your second time around the tree!
      Incidentally, Boxing Day is a Sunday this year and you know what that means! ?
      Moar ???Barbara??? to you with scritches to Charlie, Cloud, Freddie, Bobbie, Murf and Rennie.

  2. That’s almost better. You know I love recycling – and these are associated with very good memories. Bless you some more. {{{HUGS}}}

  3. PS Recycling is good! And every one of Furkids deserves lots more repetition!!!!

    BTW, I do believe God is watching from a distance and also much closer than we know.

  4. Wow! Most excellent and I was near tears. Quite an emotional piece. Peace to you, Michelle and thanks again for making my day, tears or joy.
