Somewhere in the woods outside Cleveland, TX right now a mass murderer is hiding from the cops, unless he’s already killed himself, which is one scenario. Last night five members of a family were murdered in their home. Their crime? They asked their neighbor if he could stop shooting his gun in the yard at night because the baby was trying to sleep. So, the neighbor got his AR-15, went up their driveway and into their home and shot five of them in the head. Some younger children escaped because two women shielded them with their bodies. Francisco Oropeza, 38, was charged with five counts of murder. Washington Post:
Oropeza frequently shot his AR-15-style weapon in his yard, [Officer] Capers said, and was doing so Friday when his neighbors asked him to stop about 11 p.m. Oropeza allegedly became angry after they said their baby was trying to sleep and, after the conversation, went to their home. Authorities saw video footage of Oropeza walking to the victims’ front door before going inside.
“The neighbors walked over and said … ‘Hey man, can you not do that, we’ve got an infant in here trying to sleep’ or whatever,” Capers said. “They went back in their house and then we have a video of him walking up their driveway with his AR-15.”
The killings add to a growing list of recent shootings carried out by armed Americans who have fired in response to what could have been normal, everyday interactions.
This month, an Illinois man was fatally shot by a neighbor angry about his leaf blower; a 20-year-old woman was shot and killed by a New York homeowner after accidentally pulling into the wrong driveway; a 6-year-old and her father were shot by a neighbor in North Carolina after the child’s basketball rolled into his yard.
This is dystopian sci fi come to life. You have a problem with somebody, road rage, noise, whatever the issue is, just take out an assault rifle and blow them to kingdom come. Greg Abbott hasn’t weighed in, yet. He’s hiding.
The image at the top of this post is from another murder in Texas. The two men depicted were the present husband and ex-husband of the same woman. There was an altercation over child visitation rights and the guy in the blue shirt was killed right there on the porch.
This is how nutty this country has become.
Math doesn’t lie…Republicans do. 400 million guns on the street with millions more sold yearly. 330 million citizens give or take. We know for a FACT not all of our citizens are well. Pump fear into our culture 24/7, and set up the economic conditions that makes all of our lives more precarious, and you increase the chances a desperate or hate filled person will commit murder. No one is safe. No one.
This is true. And I personally think that the Deep Red states like Texas are more likely to have people go off the deep end.
Or rural.areas where strangers are often regarded as dangerous.

The other thing about rural areas – as Sherlock Holmes knew – is that because people are more spread out in ural areas than in cities, a perp as a better chance of not being observed in the act and therefore avoiding consequences. At least they did have, before surveillance cameras.

The leading cause of death to children in The USA today is gunshot.
The USA is the only country on earth where this fact applies, even in actual war zones like Yemen, Ukraine, or Sudan, this fact does not apply.
How have we let this happen in the wealthiest country to have ever existed on earth, and more importantly, what are we going to do to stop it?
Are the profits of the gun makers really that important?

Gun control. The ability to hit your target. Or for more sane people the ability to control which nuts have guns and which nuts don’t. I mean I shot one of those AR 15 type guns. I gotta admit it was fun. I think I pissed the guy off because I hit my target first shot and blew the crap 💩 out of it. I don’t think the wife ever did actually hit it. But yeah the male egosystem went into overdrive. What I think is you should have clubs where people can go shoot these things if you want to. But you don’t need these guns out on the streets. I mean a weapon that’s full automatic is a mandatory five or ten year sentence all by itself. You then go to any other crimes. That’s automatic if the gun fires automatically and they catch with it you are going to jail no matter what else you did. Same thing with bombs and gun silencers. So a crime with a weapon of war is automatic jail time.
