A lot of people have been wondering the same question posed in the title. What IS going on with Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene in recent times? Speaking for myself it’s downright weird to see her openly defying Trump on anything, much less two big issues but she’s dug in both on release of the Epstein Files and also extending Obamacare subsidies. It’s difficult to believe she’s suddenly developed compassion whether it’s for victims of sexual abuse/assault or average and poor people who need health care. Now a plausible reason for her statements and actions is being offered.
I’m sure you’re familiar with the old saying ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.’ It’s actually sexist, and every day guys who get “scorned” decide to get payback. With guys said payback all too often takes tragic form but the point is that people who feel wronged often desire retribution. Hell, we’ve got a President who’s increasingly consumed by a desire for retribution to the point where he’s using the federal government to get payback! When you think about that, and how MTG has parroted Trump for so long it makes sense she’d imitate not just his rhetoric but his actions.
Former GOP strategist (now Executive Director of the Lincoln Project) told The Daily Beast this might be a plain old matter of MTG being pissed about getting the cold shoulder from Trump and GOP leadership on her desire to move up from being just a member of the House. If I’m not mistaken there was reporting MTG briefly flirted with the notion of a Senate run. But it seems she really cottoned onto the idea of being Governor of Georgia. She probably assumed given how loyal she’d been to Trumpty he’d give his blessing.
Ok, so that might have turned out to be a curse but what matters is MTG surely believed that with Trump’s open support all things were possible. Alas, Team Trump and important people in Georgia politics poured cold water on MTG’s dream. It seems they wanted her to be content in her current gig. Sure, at times she was an embarrassment but overall she was good for riling up the MAGAs and that was quite enough to let her do her schtick. The thing is, like money POWER can become addictive. Once someone is hooked the odds of someone beating those addictions are between extremely thin and none.
So, as the LP Ex. Director suggests MTG hasn’t been undergoing a conversion into being a good person, but rathe getting some payback. Even against Trump although she’s been quite careful NOT to call him out specifically. Not on the Epstein files where she focuses her ire on Bondi, Patel and GOP Congressional leaders but without citing Trump himself as an obstacle. Nor on the Medicaid cuts and what everyone (even a majority of GOP Congress Critters) know is a need to figure out how to extend Obamacare subsidies. Americans, and not just those using the ACA are going to freak in the next few months when they learn how much the cost of their healthcare will go up. In an election year.
MTG has to figure HER seat is safe (unless someone primaries her) but she could find herself sidelined again, reduced to only gadfly status if Democrats regain control of the House. Considered in that context it’s not a stretch to think MTG is waging a coldly and carefully calculated campaign of retribution against Trump, Republicans on Capitol Hill and the Georgia GOP. But mostly on the first two. As the aforementioned Jeff Timmer told The Daily Beast Green’s 180 on two major issues “can be attributed more to a woman scorned than the evolution of human goodness in Marjorie Taylor Greene.”
Like I said, plain old payback. Someone thinking a friend screwed them over and, knowing what would offer up some particularly personal hurt using that knowledge and capability, Bluntly put it’s a case of ‘after all I’ve done for you I ask for ONE thing and you turn me down? Well screw you!’ type of situation. THAT makes a whole lot of sense to me, As Timmer notes she has endured an awful lot of intense criticism and even ridicule over the years with her LOUD and unwavering support for Trump. Including I should add all of Trumpty’s craziest, batsh*t insane conspiracy theories.
MTG decided she wanted more than the life of a Congress Critter and asked her Turd God Emperor for a little help and he said no. Hey, if I were her I’d be pissed off at him too. Ok, so I AM pissed off at Trump but for the right reasons at least! However we are talking about MTG and why she’s making things difficult for the guy to whom she’d given the kind of total loyalty and public support he demands:
But she’s now emerged as an often lone voice of dissent within the GOP amid the deepening turmoil of the president’s second stint in the White House. While Timmer’s comments to the newspaper didn’t dispute that Greene may have a genuine bone to pick with her colleagues in her party, he questioned whether her motives of late have been entirely selfless.
“They didn’t want her to run; she’s getting a pound of flesh,” as he put it to reporters Sunday, in reference to reports earlier this summer Trump had declined to back Greene for a 2026 gubernatorial run in her home state. GOP leaders were reportedly concerned she might win the primary, but lose the general election.
“‘You wanted to put your thumb on me and thought I’d just play the loyal soldier?’” Timmer went on. “‘Well, I’m going to defy you on some key things like the Epstein files or healthcare and Medicaid’.”
Call what MTG has been up to payback, revenge, retribution of whatever but Timmer I believe is right. She thought she’d earned a favor, albeit a pretty significant one and found out the hard way Trump didn’t think as much of her as she did of him. For years she was a notable, outspoken MAGA soldier who could motivate MAGAs and help bring in lots of money. You know what? It’s not crazy that she’d think she’d earned a reward, except of course there’s a quite real possibility she’d lose a statewide race be it for Senator or Governor. Like many a candidate or would be candidate before her MTG discounted such a possibility. People do it all the time. Thinking they are shoo-ins for a promotion at work, or athletes/teams thinking they can win when in truth the odds are they’ll lose. In that sense one can understand why MTG is bitter.
Add in that for all her years of service to her Trumpty and the ‘slings and arrows’ she’s endure to see him go all in on freaking Herschel Walker for Senate (despite all the scandals and Walker haven’t having lived in Georgia in forever) and tell HER no it’s easy to see why she’s pissed. It can’t help that Walker was apparently still in Trump’s good graces as he’s now been name Ambassador to the Bahamas! (Folks there have to be wondering what the hell THEY did to deserve such a thing) Anyway MTG isn’t as batshit insane as we thought. As I said her messing with Trump is carefully calculated as she’s not specifically criticized HIM.
My takeaway from all this comes in two parts. First, for those who harbored hopes along the lines of if someone like MTG is starting to turn away from the ‘dark (orange) side of the force’ there’s hope other GOPers will follow her lead. Nope. She’s still the same ole MTG. She just picked two issues (only sexual predators and in particular child predators are down with Epstein/Maxwell type stuff) as in release of the Epstein files, and also protecting all those MAGAs who rely on Medicaid and/or Obamacare to tweak Trump about. Second, she still wants to move up in the political world. I think she’s got breathtaking delusions of grandeur, hoping to parlay a sting in the Georgia Governor’s mansion into a Presidential run. No wonder GOP leadership is happy to help Trump cut her off at the knees!
So, in the end as Rod Serling used to say there is nothing wrong with your television. No need to adjust the vertical or horizontal. We have as he’d put it entered into a world of fantastical sound and sight. But like his TV show the episode will end and we will still be in the same reality we have always been in. MTG hasn’t changed. She’s the same as she’s always been. The answer to Trump’s question is quite simple. She’s taking a couple of shots at him, albeit not directly AT him for turning down her request for help. It’s that simple.

“I’m sure you’re familiar with the old saying ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.’ It’s actually sexist, and every day guys who get “scorned” decide to get payback.”
Not really sure why the saying is “sexist.” The full, original line was “Heav’n has no rage, like love to hatred turn’d, nor Hell a fury like a woman scorn’d.” And even that likely alluded to the ancient Greeks view of the Furies (or “the Kindly or Gracious Ones” for those who wished to avoid their wrath). Also known as the Erinyes (the Romans were the ones who actually used “Furies”–or the Latin form), they heard complaints from various mortals who felt wronged and hounded the culprits relentlessly. Although unnumbered in most texts, Virgil (in the Aeneid–and, later Dante, working from Virgil’s stories) counted three: Alecto, Megaera and Tisiphone (each represented a different aspect of wrath–endless anger, jealous rage, and vengeful destruction).
Fine professor. I’ll bet a dollar to donuts damned near everyone thinks of the ‘quote’ as I cited it. And yes it’s sexist to focus it on women being pissed off about rejection. Have women gotten violent and engaged in more than property damage (i.e. throwing clothes out the window, keying a car etc.) and physically harmed or killed men who scorned them? Sure. However having worked in a funeral home and seen the awful sight of murder-suicides (or sometimes just the murdered person – the culprit was in jail) it’s almost always men who take things to extremes. From messing with the life/livelihood of someone who moved on from them (or tried to), to stalking, to property damage to beatings, sexual assaults and yes murder.
What I saw then is a nationwide issue and you damn well know it. So, while I sometimes take some of your missives to heart on this one I say back off. I’ve witnessed the awful aspect of the saying acted out up close and personal and more times than I want to remember. I’m betting you haven’t. I stand by my contention that our gender is the one that is by a large margin the one to get extreme and statistics bear that out. If you’ve never had to see bruised, broken torn up bodies, sometimes with swollen faces and blackened eyes (from close contact gunshots to the head) then STFU on this and lecture me on other matters.
Not hard to see why Empty Greene is against Trump on the “Pedo-files” as a CT nut she believes in the child sex ring run by George Soros from a pizza shop.
As for Obamacare subsidies, she has stated it affects her family (grown children on Obamacare) and there’s one thing about Republicans it is that nothing is important (or as she would say impordent) until it impacts them personally.
